10Gb Access Switch

Tech1825

Hi,

I work in a 3D visualization studio, we currently have 24 workstations plus NAS and servers. We need a 10Gb access switch with 48 ports or 2 X 24 ports. I'm having a terrible time finding something. What do you use at LTT?

We are currently using a SG350X-48 and a SG350X-48P with POE. Stacked as a single unit. Want to replace the non POE, I know that a model SG350XG-48T with 10Gb exists but can't find it for sale anywhere. Are there any alternatives? Can't find anything.

1Gb is becoming internet speed.. SSDs doing Gigabytes speed, Files are becoming gigantic, 1Gb is no longer viable for LAN. Why are there so little options and almost all sold out?

the reason you dont see the big boi switches on sale online very much, is because the overwhelming great majority of them is sold trough partners who order them directly from the manufacturer.

talk to a local IT consultancy business, and ask if they can make a quote for you. (or rather, for your business)

This. Unless you look at ebay or similar you're not finding them "on sale"

Plus with the component shortages still ongoing through 2023 or later everyone is out of stock too and lead times are very long depending on what you need.

i may or may not be reminded every day of a backorder that's currently dated at the end of 2023 for a new firewall a customer sorely needs... not a good time to be upgrading your network...

What's your budget?

Here's some refurbished options:

A 40 x 10G RJ45  + 8 x 10G SFP+ Quanta T3040 is $1500 : Quanta T3040-LY3 40 Port Network switch

48x10G RJ45 + 4X40G QSFP DELL FORCE 10 for $1785 : Dell Force10 S4820T-AC-R 48x 10Gb RJ45 10GT 4x 40Gb QSFP+ Dual AC PS

Or you can get a 32 x QSFP+ (40G, each can be split in 4x10G) for $1679 : Arista DCS-7050QX-32S-R Network Switch

or 48 x 10G SFP+  and 4 x QSFP+ Juniper for $1050 : Juniper QFX3500-48S4Q AFO 48Port Network Switch

Thank you for the options I'll look into them.

My budget is from 3000 to 4000. We are located in Europe

Had no idea these models existed. I'll do some research on those. 🙂
