You don't have to stop when your desk becomes a dining room table. My desk is a folding dining room table from Costco.

Keep going from there! Mine is a wooden countertop from Lowes!

One time I was living on a couch and my monitor and keyboard were on top of my tower, which was on the floor.

I'm starting to wonder how many of these are "fake" for lack of a better word.

How is it that so many employees at a company like LMG, have such terrible computers at home? If anything given the nature of the content i would expect that people would be more invested in their personal setups.

Have you ever heard the proverb "The cobbler's children have no shoes"? Have you never observed the phenomenon of mechanics driving shitty cars?

Not everyone at LTT is interested in or knowledgeable about tech per se. A lot of them are graphic designers, editors, warehouse and shipping people, etc.

Even the ones who are into tech don't necessarily want to come home and work on computers after spending their whole day working on computers. Did you know Steve from Gamers Nexus uses (at least report) an FX-8320 system at home? Because he only has time to use a home system like 45 minutes a week and he's just never bothered to upgrade it. Making your passion you job is a risk, for some it just leads to burning out on your passion.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

This is an interesting way to see it I haven't realized, when you deal with something all day the last thing you want to do is go home and deal with putting together a new setup.

Sometimes an old reliable car, or computer is better than having the latest one.

Heck I run a intel 6th gen dell because it works for what I need to do at home and anything at school is nice.

my rule is don’t upgrade part until it breaks or doesn’t work with what your doing. That’s the reason why all my screens are 1080p my main camera is 1080p so why should I upgrade.
