I've never really thought about it. Nor do I think I want to, frankly.

Most annoying to me are self-righteous characters, especially ones that the story tries to frame as actually being right just 'cause "that's how the story is supposed to go". I also find annoying those "character-less" characters that stories try to present to me as people I should give two shits about (standard modern MCs or tsunderes, for instance). Really, script-writers, it takes more to make me care than just telling me to do so.

What annoys me is mostly characters that bitch too much like Shinji, Usopp, and Chopper.  There are some I can tolerate/more balanced ones like Domon Kasshu.  I mean he whines too much about fucking everything, but at least, he can kick some serious ass.  

Bitchy characters are annoying too, but only because they're often useless. But someone who's supposed to be "right", but it's never established why, *and* they don't shut up about it? Screw that. Ruins the whole anime. If bitchiness was as bad, I would never have finished a lot of anime with a modern tsundere in them.

But yeah, she's the type of non-character I'm talking about, at least for the half of the series I watched. "Oh, she has a borderline mental disorder, isn't she motto kawaii!? We're totally not going to be giving her some dramatic backstory later"

This is true. But only the cold air would help.

 

Added another 140 to the intake of my case. Temps seem to have dropped some. Have to see how it does under load. New psu cables will show up next week.

 

Also did some cable management under my desk. Looks a little better.

Oh yeah, so i went to visit the family during Christmas, and one of the stuff i got was old Japaneses Manga books

I don't mind a character that bitches, but as long as they spend most of the anime doing other crap rather than just bitching if they spend the entire anime "just" bitching than I have a problem with them.  Domon doesn't spend the entire anime bitching.  He bitches a little bit about his brother, but that's about it.

I agree about the bitching, but it's not just bitching that ticks me off in great quantities: preaching, acting smug, being a brat, never learning lessons, etc. Basically if the character repeats the same thing over and over too much in general, unless it's used as a narrative punctuation mark or for comedic effect.

 

I also hate Touma.

If I see a game tagged "Bullet Hell" on Steam on my Discovery Queue, it gets an instant "Not Interested".

I don't enjoy those games. Guess I'll never get to play Touhou stuff then.

Give me RPG or turn based stuff and I'm all over it tho like a fat boy on a doughnut.

So I'm reading a post about "how CNC machines have reached the point where they are cheap enough to buy, rather than build, for personal hobbying" (paraphrased)

 

In the comments, people calling $2,000 inexpensive.

... I look at these machines and they are $1,000+. I feel I am looking at this the wrong way, but I don't think that's inexpensive? I know they are comparing it to how much these machines would cost in the past (much more than $1,000), but ... I don't know. 

For a hobbyist, I think $1,000+ is still way to expensive for anyone to reasonably bother with. I'm just looking at these machines and going "how has this not been made and sold for less than $500 at this point, even at 'ok' quality levels?" The markup must be significant. 

I get it. It's a piece of metal & other parts that was complicated to make, that has to work with a computer very precisely. Something that of course would cost a notable amount of money. 

But still. Usually, the way it works is the field advances at the highest level. Then there's a chain reaction as every level below that gets cheaper because it's easier to make and mass produce. I just don't really get how the simplest and smallest CNC machines haven't hit the "affordable to buy and possibly break in a year and not feel too bad about it" level of affordable. 

Idk. I'm probably thinking of it the wrong way. But that way would be in terms of hobbyist people who'd like to try it and "it be ok" that they don't like it as a hobby and the machine is a paper weight within a year. People like me. Basically.

I guess when I look at a machine like this, I can't help but wonder what the people in the article are on about. I feel like this could totally be made for less than $1,000 in a reasonable amount of time (in terms of $$$/hour of work).
