... Why? Has there been a lot of racial slurs you have seen posted to the forum that have not been removed in a timely manner?

I think LTT Discord is good example of why that won't work. It's good only on chat rooms where having manual moderation would be too taxing for humans. But since no blacklist is perfect, it would constantly need to be updated and cross-checked against false positives. Just like our spam filters.

And the LTT Discord has issues as well.
I got removed from the server for using a 3rd party client (got a message from ltt automod), but i was on the offical discord app on my computer

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

even if we're not actively on the forums, there are ways we are notified when reports come in externally when things go down and generally a mod will be around within minutes of new reports on going. Also, if a post gets multiple reports within a short period of time, we do have protections in place that will occur until we manually review.

Have you ever encountered a system where and automod was in place?!
THEY ARE AWEFUL!!!!

And also educate yourself with this:

So yeah stupid idea, rather have the people themselves be more educated and parents teaching their kids to not be cunts would be a whole lot better.
But then there are racist parents. So maybe we should start there, and only have qualified people become parents. 😄

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
I'm just helping YOU to help YOURSELF!

Not a great idea. LTT Discord has automod... it isn't great. That's why I spend most of my time on here

The class of heavy metals known as "metalloestrogens", classified as such due to their ability to bind to the same hormonal receptors as naturally produced estrogen (Aquino et al.), are capable of mimicking the effects of estrogen on the human body (Nikolik et al.). Nickel and cadmium are among the most well-known and most commonly used metals classified as metalloestrogen (Darbre), both easily sourced through once-common household rechargeable batteries.

Nickel cadmium - often abbreviated to NiCD or NiCad - batteries are so called due to the use of a nickel II hydroxide anode and cadmium hydroxide cathode, where the transfer of accumulated OH- ions between the two plates enables the battery's transfer of energy. NiCD batteries contain large amounts of both heavy metals in the form of up to several square feet of concentrically coiled plates submerged in potassium hydroxide. Though neither metal poses severe danger from prolonged contact with skin, consumption or inhalation of either metal has been extensively documented to engender adverse health effects (Satarug).

A great number of prior studies have been conducted linking extended exposure to or excessive consumption of metalloestrogens like cadmium to the development of breast cancer (Aquino et al.) - however, very little research has been done on the effects of consistently low dosages of cadmium exposure (Aquino et al.). Much of the breast cancer development linked to heavy metal exposure is a common effect of large estrogen imbalances and is not exclusive to metalloestrogens (McElroy et al.). Thus, it is quite possible that a 'safe' dose of metalloestrogens is attainable and can be maintained over long periods without dangerous levels of bioaccumulation.

Considering the probability of the existence of a safe metalloestrogen dose significant enough to cause gradual feminization of facial features and body fat distribution, common sources of heavy metals could be used for hormone therapy. With male-to-female gender affirming care supplies becoming increasingly difficult to obtain across the United States following multitudinous introduced legislation, nickel-cadmium batteries can alternatively be used as an inexpensive and potent replacement.

Speaking from experience elsewhere, automated moderation systems can be great, but they can also be a pain to configure properly which leads to more work for the moderators.

This, its way to much a headache and would put a ton more strain on us due to false positives that ALWAYS occur. Have to also remember, we are 100% volunteer, meaning we do NOT have to be here if we don't want to be and have no actual commitment or dedicated times we are required.

Yep. A few of the communities I moderate have some sort of automod system in place that will either flag a post based on the number of reports or just go ahead and remove a post for evaluation by a moderator. The problem with removing the posts and waiting for a moderator is that sometimes the notice won't be seen by a moderator for a few days depending on if anyone has been online, and it might be a perfectly good post that was pulled for no reason.

I like the systems that simply alert us to a mass reported post better personally.

Please do elaborate. Considering we already have spam protection and reporting system in place, what would any automatic feature provide for moderation or to community?

  • 2 weeks later...

From the year of experience i've had on the forum i'd say the mods do a good job as is. I've very rarely ever got to see spam or inappropriate content. That stuff normally "vanishes" within seconds or worst case minutes after the initial post.

I doubt an algorithm would be significantly faster. And as the mods seem to not want it either it seems they don't really need it.

I think some moderators are machines already, use 6 monitors, run auto-refreshing scrips or something else in that regard.

Or all of the above...

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
