Anyone know a device that has passed through HDMI that can place streaming apps on top of your video game

Ryanwake

I assume the original Xbox that has this feature but I prefer not to use it cuz of its age, plus it would be kind of stupid to pay $100 for feature that sounds like it should be included on TV that's already smart.

I mean wouldn't it be awesome to have your switch or any console taking up 85% of your screen but you can have Netflix or something off in top right corner.

Some TVs do support PiP.

Other than that it would be a video mixer, expensive and probably wouldn't work with streaming apps because DRM...

I believe you mean something like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65p6RSv2ERk&ab_channel=MyMateVINCE

Picture in picture is a feature on some TVs, but usually it's just for the TV cable signal and another source. Finding a TV with PiP for 2 HDMI sources it a bit rare. I'm not aware of any boxes or devices with this feature, but they might exist.

I think the PiP feature has become rarer nowadays, but I'd expect those that have it to be able to now use the built-in apps instead of just cable, so watch Netflix or such on the TV's app and PiP that with the HDMI input... Would need careful checking that it's actually possible with a given model though.

There are some HDMI switches (like 4 inputs to one output) that have PIP on them. I've tried a number of them from Amazon and found them to be far less impressive than the promo pics would lead you to believe. (I'll grant I was trying cheaper models, maybe pricier ones do it better).
