Best antivirus?

brownninja97

Ok so the only time i used antivirus was when i used windows xp.

So i have not used it for about 6 years

I used vista no antivirus never got a virus
Used win 7 for the longest never got a virus
Used win 8, 2 times got a virus and just reinstalled.
used win 8.1 got a virus reinstalled. But i was downloading some shady shit

Use win 8.1 now no antivirus

So just so you know what kind of virus we are talking about.

"You shall not pass" - Blocks access to internet
Other one opens up cmd and display all your passwords you have in green
And there is one that just makes everything filled with ads, it starts a processes called Windows 7 Ultimate even tho i was on win 8 and uninstalling browser does not help

Specs: AMD FX 6300 @ 4ghz, Asus R9 270 OC, 8gb Corsair xms3, Cooler Master GX 550w PSU, WD 500 blue, Gigabyte  GA-970A-DS3

I avoid antivirus but I use malwarebytes.  It is good for a one-time virus removal.  I uninstall it after running the scan and getting rid of the malware.

Malware Bytes and Avast.

I usually leave avast closed though, I only open it right before I download something sketchy. (which is usually once a year, for scientific purposes of course) :3

EDIT: 1,000th post. gg

only used the microsoft security essentials in win 7 and haven't installed any antivirus software for win8. I usually don't download sketchy files onto my computer and have never got a virus.

Yes, I use Eset Nod32 for detection and basic protection and the real "work" is given to malwarebytes for virus deletion.

I use Security Essentials on my win7 notebook
And Bitdefender free AV on my win8.1 desktop (I like being to right click on an item and select scan with).
I also use Malwarebytes on all my computers as an on demand scanner.

Saddly i'm always doing data recovery, vid rendering, etc so I connect a like off different storage devices to my pc.

Kaspersky is my digital condom. Other then porn I really don't go to any shady sites so that's really the only reason I use net security software.

mhmm :P i use norton 360 generally because i find myself downloading weird things often (dont question me) and i like how it tells me the status of the file i download, like its trust rating, how many others have it, etc...

No because I am smart enough not to go to untrusted sites and download stupid crap.

- Right now, I am using Avast Pro (365 days subscription) but I feel like I am wasting my money each time because I never get alerts of detected virus and I  never visit dark websites (Good guy Chrome warns me and blocks me from accessing it before it's too late).

Do you think Obama feels like he's wasting money on a bodyguard because he never gets attacked? No. Antivirus is a preventative measure. The fact that you've never had a virus detected is either a really good thing or a really bad thing, depending on your point of view.
