Radeon R9 295X2 Photo's and Specs leak in Asia

Well, you can always leave it to Chiphell (Asian website) to be the first to somehow get their hands on a disclosed product. This time it is the eagerly awaited dual-GPU monster from AMD, the Radeon R9 295X2 or 295 X2 whatever it will be named. The product seems to be a 2-slot graphics card with two fully fetched Hawaii XT GPUs with all shader active, the clock speeds are not mentioned though. The cooling is hybrid, meaning a liquid cooler for the GPU and a fan for the other components on the PCB. 

 

The board has two Hawaii XT this R9 290X GPUs slapped on one PCB, these are internally connected with a PLX PEX8747 PCIe bridge. Do the math en realize that's a nice whopping 5632 Stream Processors, 352 TMUs and 128 ROPs at your disposal. If the mentioned specs are correct then each has a full 4 GB of memory (8 GB on the card).

That thing is LOOONGG...But will a thin 120 rad be enough to cool dual gpu as hot as a 290X?

That is only slightly awkward. But that hybrid cooler tho. The heatsink on the card kinda looks like an XFX heatsink.

And the only reason it is called "Vesuvius" is because it'll melt from the amount of heat that it makes.

Looks really ugly but it is an April 1st joke obviously. If it isn't I think AMD needs go go back and re-design the look of the card because it holds nothing against any of the Nvidia stock cooler cards from the 770, 780, 780Ti, Titan, Titan Black and the Titan Z whcih all look stunning.

Well they wouldn't be designing it with a 120mm radiator if they hadn't done testing and determined that it performed acceptably. We'll have to wait for more info on the radiator specs (FPI, construction) before we jump on it for being too hot. It certainly won't be quiet.

I agree, some people must think they release these things without any actual rigorous testings...

Speculative Opinion - That Radiator...& Aiming for less than 75-80*c under load with two GPU's, isn't so bad....

I only see two 8 pin power connectors..... ??? that's unexpected considering we have 2 8 pin and 1 6 pin 290X's

Thats pretty cheap then for stock water cooling. Lets hope the stock cooling is not shit cooling. Seems legit, though it would be nice if the loop was removeable to allow custom water loops out of the box. Then it would seem pretty worth it for $1500.

Very nice looking card, using the same solution as Asus Ares II. Most modern cases has a 12cm exhaust fan in the back, so adding such a card should be no issue.

 

2x8 pin does seem a bit on the low side, considering an EVGA 780 classified has 2x8+1x6.

Single 290x's do not come with watercooling as STOCK standard.

 

Factor in those variables.... You cannot just double a 290x price and expect it to be that...

Honestly I might have to make my own shroud for this. God is that shit ugly.

Looking for a 6990 shroud. Some of those look really nice and I'd mood one on.
