I mean many people are happy to overpay for a Ampere card right now....

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

OLEDs are junk for any long term static content due to burn-in.

Unless they've advanced the technology since the last time I checked?

There are ways to avoid this - the aluminum heatsink panel on the A90J is one method, just brute forcing the cooling to reduce burn-in. Pixel shifting is also a thing, although some people don't like it.  https://www.sony-mea.com/en/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/kd-65a8h/articles/00173233

Burn-in IS an issue, yes, I wouldn't personally suggest daily driving an OLED as a monitor unless you mitigate or otherwise accept the risks associated with burn-in.

This was actually what I was going to ask about. So probably using it to just watch media/TV should have a lower chance of burn in compared to other panels? I'd like to get an OLED but the burn in risk keeps me gun-shy for purchasing one.

I gotta be honest I've never really seen a regular tv that ever looked like it was worth thousands of dollars.

I've seen tv's that look good but not 2800$ good.

i can rarely tell a difference in store (apart from colours) between a $800 TV and a $2000 TV when they are running side by side

You can tell the difference in price of a TV by the expression on the face of the sales staff when you stand in front of them.

$800 TV 😒 "yeah it gets ABC and SBS, probably couple other channels too idk the box is there just carry it up to the front and tell them I sent you"

$2000 TV 😏 *slaps bezel* "this bad boy fits so many pixels"

These days the "smart" features are more important to me than picture quality. Is it easy to switch between Netflix and YouTube? Sold.
