Should I disable antialiasing ?

I play Apex legends on my PC which has a 1660ti. And If I disable Anti-aliasing (the game offers only TSAA) I get 120+ FPS on High settings but If I enable it I the frame rate goes to 70-80 FPS, so is it worth enabling anti-aliasing at the cost of almost halved frame rate ?

Do YOU see any difference with it ON vs OFF while you're actively playing and not just watching the texture closely for any jagged edge?

I barely see any, so I always disable it.

Nobody else can answer that question for you. It's up to you to find the balance of visual fidelity and fame rate you feel comfortable with.

 

Generally speaking, the higher the resolution, the less anti-aliasing matters visually. 

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

That's a personal choice. Some people are fine playing a 720p low to squeeze out every last frame, and some people need 4K max quality with RT on and all the eye candy and bells and whistles.

 

If the jaggies don't bother you, and you'd rather have the additional FPS, then you do you.

Disable AA unless it gives more FPS since it only makes stuff blurry, its easier to pixel snipe if the pixels are visible.

For fast paced games, AA does more bad than good. it's after all based on blurring the image, which is very bad for snapping pixel shots.

I have been playing CSGO on ultra settings (except for shadows are on high, not ultra) at 1080p, with 4x MSAA and I have been playing in excess of 200 FPS consistently on a 144 Hz monitor. And my monitor's FPS mode enables .9ms response times and FreeSync, have I been doing it wrong this whole time? 

 

3kliksphilip has a video on AA in CSGO and he recommends 2x MSAA + FXAA for everyone. I hate the looks of FXAA so am running 4X MSAA instead. There are definitely some objects in the game that look like shit without any sort of AA. Like the antenna in the thumbnail.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Oh I'm talking about OP's case thinking he has a 120Hz display. In your case it's worth considering whether to have AA or not, no longer a clear cut answer.

Right, because he is getting under 120 FPS when using a 120 Hz monitor. Got it. Like I know more FPS in CSGO is always better, but knowing CSGO, I can actually see a situation in which im peeking a sniper with my own AWP, and the lack of AA would actually conceal him for a bit longer. Like when they start to peek, the colors of the pixels corresponding to the edge of the wall he is standing behind will change color, indicating movement. Without AA, those pixels wouldn't change, because that is how the source engine works, and it wouldn't be until the character moves enough to completely change the colors of the adjacent pixels to the left or right that I see his movement. This could also even change my crosshair placement, but I have never been that good at crosshair placement anyway.

I always use AA whenever it's available. Even with my 27" 4K display which has a very high pixel density i see jaggies in prettyy much any game when AA is disabled. But if it's costing you so much performance i'd rather disable it and run at your monitors refresh rate.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
