How to reduce rgb brightness

John...

How do I reduce my led strip brightness? It's really bright, my fan hub doesn't have brightness optionScreenshot_2021-05-03-02-59-13-24.jpg.afb086727183be3150cc365c663570fa.jpg

If there is no method of control from the hub then you would have to put a resistor in line with either the ground or power line to the LED's to limit the current that they receive.

You can try using potentiometer if you like to tinker with stuff

What kind of resistor should I use?

What led strip is it?

The generic one, +12v, or addressable 5v?

Well that's a little bit problematic...

Since is not only the led that needs power, each of those led has a chip on them that makes it address able, and let's just say the same thing happens when you suffocates people...

But i guess instead of cutting you led strip cable, you can buy cheap 5v rgb led extension cable and 10k potentiometer

Ah I didn't not realize these were addressable LEDs. Ya you can't use a resistor in this case. The only way you can control brightness on those is through software. Since you don't have that option you either have to live with it or find new strips.
