How many fans can i plug into a single sys_fan ?

nobody4324

Hello!!!

My mother board is a Gigabyte B550M DS3H, with two sys_fan. (as shown below)

My case supports up to 6 fans.

My question is: how many fans can these support? What should i use to put more than 1 there? (lol)

thanks!!

That's what she said. CPU_FAN is the CPU cooler, and SYS_FAN is case fans. Now I don't know how many they support, nor am I an expert, but there's my knowledge.

As Someone with the username “</TheCoder2019_”, my coding skills are atrocious.

Here are my specs:

a splitter is what you use to add multiple fans to a single header, or if you buy a fan kit you might get a small splitter board instead. The Lian Li splitter board that came with my fans has 6 separate headers, and unless you're using abnormally heavy power draw fans your sys_fan header should easily support 6 fans as well. Just remember that you need to split the fans up based on what group you want them to be controlled in

You're limited by the amount of current such header supports.

Typically, those headers are rated for 1A of current, but they'll probably handle a bit over that... maybe 1.25..1.50 A for short periods of time.

So basically, look at the fan labels ... you see there something like 12v 0.15A ... keep in mind fans consume around 50% more for a few seconds when they turn on for the first time, so round that up to 0.25A  ... so if you have such fans, I wouldn't install more than 4 such fans.

If the fans are rated 0.25-0.35A, I wouldn't connect more than 3 on a header.

Easy math. 1A header.
Corsair RGB fans are 0.3A each ( 3 fans 1 header)
Noctua and Actics are 0.13A each ( 7 fans 1 header)

Lian li fans are 0,43A

well as others have posted you can , it's basically just a wall outlet situation where you can only split it so many times before it becomes a really bad idea.

I'm overly cautious and just use one fan on each header and just use a fan controller for the rest. Although I'm spoiled on my current board which has 7 fan headers

1A is the default. Some headers have more, but if its not stated in manual, its 1A. What the fans need you can usually find from their spec sheets.

Also RGB headers are 3A by default.
