Ignored user post replies show up when comment submitted as soon as they reply

What happened?

Ignored user's comment showed up right as I submitted mine. I suspect our replies were submitted at nearly identical times, causing this to happen, but am not sure.

What did you expect to happen?

Their comment is hidden, instead of doing whatever the fuck it's doing in the screenshot below.

IIRC status updates of ignored users pop up too. Or at least they used to. Not to thread jack, or anything. I just never saw it as enough of an issue to bring up.

I think Mortis said he was gonna improve the ignoring feature soon. Don't have the thread handy but he's (hopefully) gonna make it hide new posts in the sidebar as well as status updates and such.

I don't mind too much.

I don't deny that I did some stupid stuff (and depending on how tired I am) may continue to do stupid stuff. If people choose to ignore me, that is their choice. In any case, it's out of my control.

I have never understood the point of ignoring someone on a forum. Its pretty easy to just keep scrolling. I am positive I have made it some ignore lists, sucks but it is what it is.

Irrelevant. It's comments like this that make me add people to ignore lists; they add absolutely nothing to the conversation and are effectively just post farming. There are people on my ignore list who I just don't want to deal with; I could say a bunch of stuff about them, but that would be against CS.

Post volume is a factor, and whether or not that user keeps pinging you to annoy you. Of course it's also down to preference, there could be non-inflammatory reasons to ignore someone. I've got ignored users that weren't rude or anything, but a feature is a feature and sometimes it's just nice to clear out content you don't wanna see.

Excellent. I'm always amazed at how much they actually change and improve. Easily the best forum from a feature set.

Yeah this was reported in

I've reported it to the forum software devs, but it's not something that I can very easily change without their involvement and we are several months away from the next release unfortunately.

I said I'd look into hiding ignored content in more places - I've now done so in the recent status updates sidebar (I don't remember if that's live yet or not), but changing it in other places is slightly less straight forward and I can't promise that it will happen.
