Oldest still-relevant GeForce card?

I am selling my RX 570 8gb to save up for a 6800xt or 3070. i need a gpu in the meanwhile though.

I was thinking a GTX 580, 680, or 780.

I am willing to pay up to $100 for this new card and I would prefer a used one. I need at least DX11 and more power than a RX 550.

I would prefer a NVIDIA card as they are cheaper used.

My psu only has a 6 pin and an 8 pin so no huge cards.

Any other reccomendations?

My suggestion is to look on your local market and try to find a real bargain. Sometimes you'll see a GPU for a lot less than market price, somewhere like Facebook Marketplace or Offerup. I say don't look for a specific GPU, look for a specific price and find something that fits it. Something like a GTX 950 for $50, for example, would be a nice bargain.

Don't do that? This sounds so stupid. Just keep your card. Why?

 

Say you sell your 570 for 160$ which is a pretty common sell price rn.

You pay about 100$ for the 780 as the 580 and 680 are not good enough anymore.

So you have 60$ left.

Then you buy a 6800xt and sell the 780 again but by the time you have that money a 780 will once again be older and you won't be able to sell it for the 100$ you got it for so you lose more money.

So in the end you may have made 100$ in the whole time whilst you could've just waited had a better card the whole time and still make the 100$ selling the 570.

 

So just keep it I don't get why you are doing this as this sounds like a extremely short sighted plan blinded by the sudden spike in gpu prices. You gotta realise that by the time the cards you want become available for a normal price your used gpu is gonna tank in value as a 780 is not a great card anymore and your 570 will hold it's value far better.

Used 8gb RX 570s are going for $400+ on ebay bc of their high mining value... I would probably start bidding for the 570 at $200

Wow this is just bananas.  Out of curiosity I checked out the Rx 580's as well, and 400-500+ buy it nows in some cases.  I hadnt looked into the GPU used market other than the high end stuff recently.  Feeling like a sucker for selling my 1660ti at around MSRP now (I am actually quite happy about it and feel bad for those getting squeezed)

 

I had a nice little LAN box a while back I built with used parts from ebay.  Ryzen 2200g, cheap B450 board, and Rx 580 that I got from ebay for 100 USD at the time.   The entire rig cost me less than 500$ and was a perfect 1080p LAN box.  The current supply/demand issue is so far out of control.  These prices are robbery.

Yeah so no that is not true. Sure there are some on there but there are soooo many but it nows for under 200$ good luck selling it for even 200. I think you're blinded by the cryptocraze like many others that are putting the cards on there for sale for those crazy prices.

Bad idea in my opinion, unless you pick up a GTX 970 or 780 for close enough to $100 first. Just wait longer, and when stock and prices are back to normal-ish sell the RX 570 after you got your hands on a RX 6800xt or RTX 3070.
