How well will Linux Mint (Cinnamon) run on Core 2 Duo

I plan on upgrading my dad's computer with a 120 GB BX500, and I want to install Linux MInt Cinnamon version on it. The processor is probably a Core 2 Duo E7400 (I can't check, it's in another house right now), it has 4 gigs of single channel DDR3 RAM, and struggles to run windows 10, with freezes(using a 5400 rpm HDD). It's a new system with a new motherboard and ram, and the processor is probably second hand.

I don't know if there are some problems with the processor causing random freezes or just the super slow system overall, I'm sorry if this is a noob question.

Coming to the main point, I'd like to know if the system could handle Linux Mint Cinnamon edition like a champ, with the SSD.

I'd also be grateful if anyone can tell me how'd the system handle a 64 bit Windows install (20H2), because if he doesn't agree for Linux Mint, Windows would be the only alternative left.

Thank you.

well better than win 10 but mint is of the heavier distros but it mostly be fine if you want an ubuntu based distro which is also light i suggest lubuntu

and if you can manjaro is also a good option

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here

Honestly the issue is HDD. Once you replace it the system will run either win10 or mint just fine.

If you look at benchmarks of low-end laptop/nettop cpu-s they are often still slower than this c2d...

I've ran mint cinnamon, 19.1 IIRC, on E8600 with 4gb ddr2, and it worked well. The only thing - it had pretty decent gpu (gtx660) so if you are using intel igpu (which was BAD back then) UI might be a bit slow.
