Apple Re-Introduces fourth gen iPad 16GB model starting at $399, discontinues iPad 2

RedRound2

Along with the 8GB iPhone 5C apple, the fourth-gen iPad is now available once again on Apple’s website, this time with only an 16 GB capacity in both Wifi only and Wifi + Cellular.

Aside from the single capacity choice, there aren’t any changes to the device. This new model replaces the iPad 2, which has been around since the days of the 30-pin connector. The newer version includes Apple’s custom dual-core A6X processor, a 5 MP iSight camera, 1.2 MP FaceTime camera and of course the 2048 x 1536 Retina Display.

The iPad 4 is available at $399 for the Wi-Fi model, putting it at the same price as the previous iPad 2. The cellular model costs $599. Both are available on Apple’s website and in retail stores

It's still a much better idea to get the ipad mini for 399$ which actually has the same storage capacity but the newer better design and much better processor and all that schnazz.

I know many people who actually prefer the bigger screen, so there's that

i'll rephrase, apple's customers are stupid

Just because you don't see good in them doesn't mean other people don't see. People buy it because of some genuine reason and apple does have a lot of advantages in terms of software support, build and all round good products

and also, there's absolutely no point in an 8GB phone anywhere

I know a lot of people who only have Facebook, what's app and twitter with a couple of music

Thats me

A few social apps, youtube, a game or two, and then 50 or so songs.

Although my phone is 32gigs and i do occaisonally chuck a whole TV series on it, so the extra space does help.

If people dont need/want to pay for a high capacity phone, and apple among others charge ALOT for the extra space, the the 8gig would be great

An 8GB phone isn't terrible, it's just not good for watching movies. When I get to that point, I just setup USB OTG anyway.

Honestly, I think the iPad could outsell Android tablets by a mile if Apple reduced the price to something a little more do-able. The only reason I don't own a 10" tablet yet is because the price and the numerous options make shopping hard if you don't know what to look at.

That isn't to say I want one, I'd rather a Surface tablet, but I think Android isn't as great for tablets that Apple can do for the average shopper. Do you think people usually research their products before buying them? Psssshhh, as if, and that screws Android at times.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I didn't really follow the iPad line. Can anyone tell me what was the benefit of upgrading from an iPad 2 to 3 or 4 or is 5 out or are they at 6, other than a newer processor?

From iPad 2-3

Retina display --- 1024x768 to 2048x1536

Processor with better graphics ------ A5 to A5X

Camera ------ 0.3 MP to 5MP

Came at a cost of being a little thicker

From iPad 3 to 4 (after 6 months)

Lightning connector

Better front facing camera

Better processor ----- A5X to A6X

From iPad 4 to Air (5)

Redesign (narrower bezels like iPad mini)

Much lighter and thinner

Dual stero speakers

Much better Processor ----- A6X to A7 64-bit

From iPad mini 1 to 2

Retina display ----- 1024x768 to 2540x1536

Much better processor ------- A5 to A7

snip

3 and 4 doesn't seem to be worth it in my opinion. But I can see the appeal of Air and Mini 2.
