Have some doubt and need some help in building pc for Fortnite at 144hz

MS10

I am fairly sure 900 series no longer get optimizations for latest games so that may not be wise...

When it comes to i5-9400f vs R3 3100 they are roughly the same same but the 9400 may have a slight leadin performce while Ryzen has upgadability to 3600, 3700 and maybe if the board isnt to potato even 3950 or so.

Budget (including currency): 500$

Country: Pakistan

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Fortnite ,  Valorant, CSGO at 144hz med to low settings and youtube, netflix

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): \

3 3100 with b450 or i3 9400f with b365 [ depends on availability and stock cooler]

550W PSU

1x8gb 3200mhz CL16 DDR4 [ add one stick later]

128gb ssd and 1tb hard drive

Now should I buy RX 570 OR GTX 970 in a 500$ buget

PLS HELPPP and rate my pc

A used GTX 970 for 500, are you mad....... that card is 7 years old. Worth maybe 50 or 90 if you get a good one.

EDIT:

I know the market for graphics cards is bad at the moment but overspending is not the way to go. Get the RX570 if you must. However keep in mind you are still overpaying for that card. A RX5700 on the other hand, while also overpriced at 500 would be much better value.

Well dont except prices to be same all over the world.

OP: I paired my R3 3100 with a GTX970 and it handles 1080p gaming really well (although it is most certainly not enough for new AAA games with ultra graphics)

i'd say whichever of the two you can get a better deal on..

they're crudely in the same performance ballpark, but do take in mind that the RX570 is still a 'current' card, and the GTX 970 is a 6-7 year old card.

as someone who lives in middle east i'd say thats very much accurate

but because of the previous mining madness rx570 are cheaper at least in my country

and 970 is a bit better than 570 in raw compute

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here

back when the 570 launched and the 970 received more optimizations they were like neck and neck, but now that the 970 is older I would get the newer card, rx 570, unless the 970 is cheaper by a decent amount. you can still game on a 970 just fine its just a bit older.

You seem to be going budget so any pair of dual channel 2400 mhz stick will do. (2 x 4 or 2 x 8)

Also you have enough power but not knowing the make of your PSU, I can't say if it's good or not,.

once again, just because its from a verified company doesnt mean its good. Corsair and EVGA make some horrible PSUS for example. The PSU tier list is a decent reference.

Also, please quote us using the arrow so we see your response
