More DDoS?

WhitetailAni

Tried to load up another thread and was met with this:

Yes, now you can see what I have open. Good job, you noticed that I like XKCD.

Is it another angry person, or is it just a bunch of people getting on?

For that one person who doesn't know what DDoS stands for:
Distributed Denial-of-Service attack.

I don't know the specifics, so could someone explain in detail?

The LTT forum is quite big, so we do get DDoS attacks from time to time. This one has been going on for the last few days (few minutes at a time a few times a day, so likely DDoS testing).

If you need help with your forum account, please use the Forum Support form !

Tried to load it up to add a comment and got the same thing.

New threads take about 30 or so seconds to respond.

It's basically a bunch of people (computers) sending pings at really fast rate to take down the cpu.

Isn’t Cloudflare supposed to protect against DDoS attacks? I was wondering why I was getting that message the last few days.

Yup, but it's not on by default. It can be turned on manually or with conditions, not sure how it's currently setup as I'm only a lowly mod :D

Someone turned it on or it kicked on, I got a cloudflare notice before the impending doom happened for a few minutes.

i wonder why so many people hate LTT Forum

it gets DDOS'ed pretty frequently

never seen anything like this with any other site

Because LTT has a YouTube channel.

Maybe they are hoping that Linus will make a video about it, and then they will sort of be in a video.

Cloudflare blocked me from entering for quite a while,in the end i figured out it was because i spoofed the identity of my browser and because Cloudflare was on high alert.
