Most root vegetables are all pretty similar structurally. They have different percentages of things. Potatos have a different kind of sugar than carrots for example, (starch is basically a sugar) so the recipie will vary somewhat, but I suspect the way those things are made have a lot in common with potato pancakes.  My stepmother used to do potato pancakes using mostly spinach and rather than use if starch as a binder she used albumen so an egg was added to the recipie. Still more or less the same thing though.  You could probably make potato pancakes out of ginger for example.  They’d be near inedible because ginger has that super strongly flavored oil in it who’s name I forget.

Just had a thought: really small thin potato pancakes out of ginger with confectionary sugar as a binder over vanilla ice cream.  Could be tasty. Could also be awful.  Ginger goes bitter easily)

back in the 60’s when quaddafi took over Libya, a different North African country, it was a feudal monarchy and knightly families all held officership positions in the military.  By default. There was actually a blind pilot in the Libyan Air Force.  This is what isnt always well understood about quaddafi in the west.  He may have been not real real good, but he was still a massive improvement over what he replaced.
