Yes you can safely leave a PC on for weeks, but it doesn't exactly take 14 days to download a game. Why not set your PC to automatically sleep after several hours and just start the game downloads right before you leave?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

It should be fine. If you're using steam you can use this program to shut down after the games are downloaded.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nah brah, I'm in a position where I can afford the power cost (both PC power and AC cooling) required for the convenience of never having to wait for boots. But that calculus varies for every person

I'm a luddite, apparently.  I'm perfectly happy to wait the 15-30 seconds it takes to boot nowadays.  I also think 1080p is plenty, unless you're in VR.

I do have 4 computers within reach right now, though, and several more around the house, so I guess it's a wash?

The only real reason to shut off your computer is for power conservation. Modern computer components just don't have issues being "on" all the time, mostly because they aren't actually totally on. Most like RAM, SSDs, etc. just sip power to maintain state, and CPUs and GPUs ramp down dramatically when idle.  There's an argument to be made that it's actually harder on your components being constant shut off and back on because maintaining state is always easier than going from one completely different state to another, because physics.

Wait till you get hooked on folding at home and your PC is 100% load for months at a time. A true stability test :P

Yes, just make sure your power strip/components aren't in such a way that can create a fire hazard

In 2012 or 13 I forget, I got one of those 27inch Korean Shimian IPS monitors. Has it passed the muster it would have retailed at the time for 1200 as an Apple cinema display which was about close to top of the line for that time. As it was it had all of one dead pixel among the bazilion it had that I couldn't even see unless on a white background. Just looked like a spec of dust or a sneeze mark. So I was able to get it for 200 something. 2 years ago it stopped working right and would take around 30 min to warm up enough to display a picture. lol So I just kept my PC running all that time until a few weeks ago when I built a new PC. Not good for the electric bill but it never harmed my PC running it for that long.

And the nice thing about always on computing is that if you're out of the house, you can just chrome remote desktop home from your phone. I have defo done server management from a campsite...
