Any reason to use iGPU on a 9900K

Go to solution Solved by Haro,

For trouble shooting? or just for extra displays.

or if your card is dead/ lost and you need to display an image.

Would it actually take any load off my dGPU in any case or is it best to just plug everything into my 1080Ti and let the iGPU be disabled?

i mean having a second monitor requires little to no recourses.  depends on what load we're talking about.

Hello good people,

is there any reason to use the iGPU on the 9900K, for example as an output to my secondary display? Would it actually take any load off my dGPU in any case or is it best to just plug everything into my 1080Ti and let the iGPU be disabled?

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

It won't do anything. No practical reason to use the iGPU at the same time, unless you need to troubleshoot or something.

Plug everything in your 1080ti, but leave the iGpu enabled in bios. It can be used for transcoding

Alright, thanks for the Info! I already thought about the troubleshooting thing. But i' guess i'll just let it as is in BIOS and plug both my monitors into the 1080Ti. My 2nd monitor basically is used for teamspeak, spotify, youtube and netflix while playing games on my 1st monitor. Transcoding isn't really of any use for my because i'll just use the CPU for gaming, no real work.

Yea then barely any load to the GPU.

Just use the 1080ti.

Twice I have had GPUs die and used the iGPU to make sure the motherboard was not the problem before risking puting another GPU on the system.

That is all they are good for as far as I am concerned.

I still don't like the idea of going without the feature.

It can be useful for QSV. Other than that, it's good to have as sort of a backup display adapter I guess.

I use it as I like to have a second monitor plugged into my rig and my card only has one hdmi port and I need it for screen mirroring. Pretty much the only reason I do it.
