Most powerful PC for TF2

ItsMeRachata
Go to solution Solved by PlayStation 2,

Been playing since 2013, you really just want something with single core performance and high as fuck clocks (so, something like a 10600K/10900K). Most reasonable modern GPUs can power through the game maxed out at 1440p or higher and something like a 2060 could probably blaze through it at 5120x2880, if that's desirable.

What system configuration could play TF2 Max Settings and get highest FPS? TF2 is a CPU demanding game so I'll guess the 10900K or 3950X/upcoming 4950X anything over these I think will be too overkill. For GPU, I think 2060/upcoming 3060 anything over this way too overkill.

What we need to know is the refresh rate of the monitor you are using and resolution. Any more fps than that would be totally useless as it won't be displayed anyways. Tf2 is a dual core game so a athlon 3000g + rx560 would easily push well over the 100fps easily. It's an old game that runs on potato systems super easy to max out.

What do you mean with TF2? Team Fortress 2?

If yes, this game can run on anything, even at high refresh rates.

If you only play this game, spending 500$+ on a CPU only is completely wasted money. A r5 3600 will be more than enough, you can go even lower...

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Team Fortress? That game could probably run on a modern phone.

Any reasonably modern 4-core processor should be way more than enough for TF2, with enough left over for background tasks. I think the recommended specs for that game are somewhere around a Core 2 Duo, and even a high-end Core 2 Quad like a QX9650 is 1/4th or less the performance of a Ryzen 3 3100.

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

WD 5400RPM 2TB

EVGA G3 750W

Corsair Carbide 300R

Arctic Fans 140mm x4 120mm x 1

Like the others have said, there's no need for a top of the line CPU or GPU. TF2 could probably run on a toaster these days.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro
