You think 30” is enough?

the sff pc dude

I ordered a 30 inch ultra wide curved 200Hz monitor, and I was wondering if it’s too small? This will be my first ultra wide experience and I’m very excited, but I don’t want to get the wrong feel of these types of monitors. Here is a link:  https://www.amazon.com/Sceptre-30-inch-Curved-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B07TXM7K4T/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=30+144hz+monitor&qid=1596378006&sprefix=30”+144&sr=8-4

The size of the monitor needs to be proportional to the resolution of the monitor. At 1080p it's gonna look like shit.

The pixel density is 92 PPI, while a 27 inch 1440p monitor is 108PPI. It makes a big difference.

@BlueScope819 I thought it’s 2k/full hd

It's pretty good, but it won't replace something like 2 side by side monitors; it's not quite wide enough. Doable if you don't mind a cramped screen.

I have a 29" currently, and I love it. I want bigger to get a true 2 monitor replacement, but I'd never, ever get another 16:9 monitor after having this one.

I actually thought about getting a 30" Viotek monitor to replace this one, as it has a higher refresh rate. But I've decided to hold out and get a 43" instead.

No it won't. You have take into account aspect ratio. It's basically slightly larger than a 24" monitor in height, and wider.

I wouldn't necessarily say that it's enough for all users (although for the average PC user it should be more than sufficient) since it would depend on other factors such as if you are planning to use this with any other monitors in a multi-monitor configuration and what you are planning to display using the monitor (if you need to work with multiple programs at the same time or view complex diagrams/models then multi-monitor would be recommended or at least a larger monitor), and how far you are going to be viewing the monitor from?

1060p? 1060 x 1660? something like that...

I have a 25" 21:9 and it works well. Though 30" does seem to be nice. Please post when you get the monitor and tested it a bit. I might be interested in upgrading to this.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

The monitor you linked is 1080p. Also I need the p resolution not the k resolution or the HD resolution because those numbers are meaningless and don't scale.

It also is reported 21.9"

Right, but you're not taking into account the aspect ratio. 24" 1080p is perfectly fine. This is only slightly taller, and wider.

1440p would be much better but from the rest of the replies it seems like you didn't link your actual monitor that you got.

It's also harder to run. So, his system might not be properly equipped for it.

How the pixels are arranged doesn't matter what matters is pixel density.

No, you're wrong. You're thinking of it as "well a 27" 1080p monitor sucks, so this must too."
That's not the case.

A 29" 2560x1080p monitor is basically the same as a 24" 1080p monitor, which is absolutely fine for PPI.

A 30" 2560x1080p monitor is also basically the same as a 24" 1080p but wider. The difference is so small, that you're unlikely to notice the PPI difference.

This monitor should be sufficient for gaming and MS Visual Studio, for Netflix I would recommend watching on a larger screen TV instead with a Roku, Android TV, Apple TV, etc although it should be fine as long as you aren't sitting too far away.
