The fact is that it's real. The Pentagon is totally building Iron Man, and the US Army has confirmed this a few times already. In fact, along with robots, it's one of its biggest bets, just like the US Air Force and the US Navy are betting on drones. I wrote about this last year:

 

Confirmed for real now...I guess? Either way, it's cool, but it won't actually be around for a little while, but again, it still is cool. I wonder if they'll be able to make a full fledged Iron Man suit, as in, it can also fly. Who knows. Even a not-so-flyable Iron Man suit would still be pretty cool.

I highly doubt it will fly. Bullet proof armor makes sense.

I'm more interested in those robots they use to carry around gear. Now those are cool.

Or the 6 foot tall robot they claim will only be used for humanitarian goals. Right. You don't fund something with a military budget for an only humanitarian role.

Pretty sure one of Edward Snowden's leaked documents showed Apache pilots killing Civilians and laughing about it. You're assuming military personnel have a conscience and/or are good people. Evidently this isn't the case all the time.

Not too surprising. I'm pretty sure they'd train soldiers to have a somewhat disconnected feeling with killing someone. They're rather combat ineffective if they go back to base and break down, or break down after killing someone.

The Russian defense minister put it best when describing the US and Canadas pact to back up police forces with military troops if requested during a time of unrest. Something like "Canada doesn't have the military might to send in regular troops. They will send in JTF2. These men are highly trained in one thing; killing. If you think they'll think twice before pulling a trigger you are mistaken. There will be civilian deaths."
