I use paid Malwarebytes + Defender.  I've paid for MWB for years now, I respect how they work as well as how they continually keep their program low usage and unintrusive on top of how good their protection is. I'll gladly support them as long as they keep that up and perform well.

They have the trial for Premium and when that expires you get the lower free version from then on.

My quick heal av lisence expires today, I wanna know is Free Avast is good or Paid Avast? or should I get Mcafee Antivirus from Amazon.in (link) which is really really cheap ($8 for 3 years 1 device). Quick heal Total Security is kinda expensive like $47.

I just need a real time protection av which is good at detecting virus and potential viruses.

I combo free Malwarebytes + windows defender with occasional searches or when i suspect something with Malwarebytes.

As for how good it is compared to one another, idk. But that is what i cluelessly use.

Malwarebytes Free paired with Windows Defender it's easily the best out there. Getting something like AVG, Avast, or McAfee is just a waste of money and they're god awful.

All 3 are substantially worse than Windows Defender. Use that + the free version of MalwareBytes for anti-malware scans and you're good.

P.S. Paying for McAfee or AVAST is basically buying a virus and willingly installing it.

Ok here it is:

McAfree = trash. It's expensive. dont get it

MalwareBytes - good combo with windows defender

Remember you also have Windows Defender, which is ok. McAfree is expensive, but good but very expensive. I would go MalwareBytes, havent used it, but heard its good, so get malwarebytes

Does malwarebytes detect viruses in real-time? Let's say I downloaded a trojan, and didn't run it, with other av real-time protection, the trojan would be deleted instantly. So does malwarebytes detect in real-time? If not I'll have to scan for every sketchy app/thing I that download. Does it detect trojan in the first place tho?

Thanks for your quick responses everyone, I'm glad with your answers.

You get a trial period with the featureset you get when you pay for the softwate.

Once that trial is over you revert to it being free mode. In which there is no active protections.

You essentially get a taste for what you get when you pay for it.

Alright, but even without the active protection in the free version, is it good enough to find viruses If I manually scan specific files and folders? Or just do manual scan...

Ik, but it's my hobby to find stuff on sketchy sites. Some apps are very useful and people don't know about a lot of them. Ofc I could use a vm, but that introduces a lot of hiccups, such as no support for gpu etc.

Anyway, thanks for your help everyone. I appreciate it.
