I got it but never noticed till my wife said I stopped breathing one night. Got some kind of machine from my local VA but haven't used it in years, so I just deal with it. Every so often I'll wake up as if I can't breathe but that's few and far between. And yeah I like to be on the cool side, I need a fan at all times of the year both for the noise and the airflow.

I think I've taken sleeping aids for like 15 years. Can't sleep otherwise, unless I'm exhausted.

Can’t cure?  Cpap doesn’t work?  It’s a PITA.  You have to just grind at it for months to make it work, and at first you have even more problems because it’s hard to get used to the mask.  You basically have to never ever sleep without it for a very long time.  You may need to  do mask swaps too because the whole thing is pretty individual.

better than dying though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Been there done that, the masks both me so much I sleep worse yet or the same I tried it on and off for a few years with many masks and for months at a time. I have to use the full face mask as my nose is very restricted almost all the time. So yes you are correct the cpap does not work for everyone, there are quite a few people that can't use it, theres a dental thing you can get but my nose has to be an adequate air path for it to work. I'm happy for the people it does work for as sleep apnea sucks

Very interesting, unfortunately the original cause of your insomnia is probably gone but your dependent on sleep aids now. I don't think there too harmful though but idk

Sounds like there’s something up with your nose you need fixed.

sucks doesn’t cover it.  It can outright kill you.  There is also the constant zombie thing and all the other stuff.

I am the same, cold and constant white noise or I hear every little thing and it distracts me to much.

Indeed there is, they have been trying to fix it my whole life but it's only beeen looked at a few times due to long time getting to a specialist. My nose always runs like having a mild cold and when it goes shut even a neti pot cannot get through. I do not have alergies either although really dry air does help it

Edit: when i was really young I used to have a garbage can and a kleanex box by my desk at school since i blew my nose all day long. For a few years it was so bad it was like massive endless blobs that came out.

I have trouble sleeping in anything warmer than 20C or so. I remember one night in the winter our furnace broke and it was 16C in my house. Damn, I slept so good that night.

Haha yea makes sense, I only ever once was too cold and it was also because of a broken furnace. But like.... it was probably 8-10 whare I was trying to sleep.

I used to have sleep apnea and had to use a bipap machine to stay asleep and not wake up tired. I eventually lost a bunch of weight and no longer have to use one anymore.

Yea I'm not sure how to do that... childhood anxiety resulted in me being always hungry nomatter what I eat or how much. I'm not huge or anything but I'd like to be 210-220 rather than 250.

Well it's something you should seriously look into doing. Maybe try to get professional help for it if you are have trouble doing it solo.

Yep, I have it.  Been on a CPAP for the last 3 years.  The first few months were a big struggle.  But once I trained myself to breathe through my nose, I was able to use the nasal pillows and everything is much better now.  It's nice waking up without horrific cotton mouth.

I suspect I have it, I was told my breathing stops during sleep and all

Most likely due to my weight I suppose

Sleep test time.  Your doctor can set it up.  The scariest thing about sleep Anne’s is it can kill you straight up.  Next scariest thing is it can damage your heart which can kill you later.  There’s more scary as well.

You are correct, but killing you is only really severe cases. Heart damage over time is from any of it

I thought so till I heard a story from a friend about another friend of hers who wound up with a dead guy on the couch in his living room.  Dude had apnea, got tired at a party, thought he’d catch a few winks and never woke up.

yea I am not saying it's impossible but it is rare. Mine is at the moderate level but for the most part I just jump the cycles.... I get just a tiny bit of deep sleep and the rest is light

yeah but how would anyone even notice that unless you stand there and wait for 5 seconds and see if the stomach is moving or something? which seems too much of a coincidence for me, like when was the last time you ever checked if your SO, or any one in your family is still breathing during the middle of the night? don't get me wrong, good for you she noticed but i'd never think anyone would notice if someone is breathing when they are sleeping. i mean your wife, yes she saw you not breathing but you still got lucky, you might have been not breathing ann hour ago, but it happened while she was awake.

I’m not getting this “how could anyone know” thing.  It’s not just pretty easy to tell if someone stops breathing, it’s hard not to notice. Especially if it’s night, they’re the only other people there, and the only thing making noise.
