People lining up outside Best Buy

I passed buy 4 Best Buy last week on different days and it always had a line up outside even early on in the morning. I am surprised that BB is still relevent. I mean before now, I do pop in mostly because I was passing buy and why not to check the physical stuff once in a long while but almost never bought a single little stuff. Can anyone explain this? And seeing that Amazon have everything same price or lower(you know, it is Best Buy). Or anything you can't get over at Amazon(yeah as it was possible 😲😲).  Beside their in store experience isn't what I call Best shopping.

There’s something about physically getting to know what you’re purchasing that Amazon simply doesn’t offer. And, at the right price anyway, being able to have it right then and there rather than having to wait a few days is also nice.

having worked at one for about 8 months a lot of people like seeing things before they buy them, although what props best buy up is services, credit cards and phone accessories/general accessories to various electronics

A good portion of Best Buy's business is selling things people don't want to blindly purchase online without seeing them like washers, dryers, refrigerators, TVs, car audio, etc.

MacBook Pro 16 i9-9980HK - Radeon Pro 5500m 8GB - 32GB DDR4 - 2TB NVME

I hate carrying those things. I dont go to store that often, but usually when I do, as I remember for the Xbox, I still end up buying via MS Store. There just something about open mail boxes Lol.

I mean, carts exist in most stores, Best Buy included, for a reason.

I don’t mind buying shit online (my eBay history can prove this), but still, buying something pricey at a store just hits different.

They might be lining up because only a certain amount of people are allowed in the store because of CV.

At least that's what is happening here in Germany.

Not to give to you personnally, I am sure you are awesome

(Ur)👆🆒 but out of 10 only 1 is full knowledgeble, others mid to below average. And you do get the impression they want to toss you to another department. Or get rid of you if you don't really want to buy. I dunno if you work buy commission, but isn't Best experience.

I mean carry them home even I have my car and sometime I don't if it is the downtown one.

Going inside in store shopping

Well, people aren't meant to be cooped up!! If I gotta sit around all day, a new 70" TV is coming to bore the crap out of me while I lay on the couch all day eating Instacart bon bonz getting fatter and lazier than every. The TV is a must. (or other electronic lol)

I'm guessing. No clue really. That is an interesting part of your day though!!

a lot of my former co-workers in particular were pretty knowledgeable actually (I know surprising) also yeah it's really funny, no Best Buy's employees don't work on commission but they sure as hell act like it. That's because sales floor employees bonuses would be affected by certain metrics of their sales. Front end employees like me, only got bonuses based off hours rather than say protection plan sales or credit card applications. Agreed though it's not a really great experience

This is because they’re not letting people inside, they are having employees grab the items requested, and they have a register in the double door or right by the door.

Ah ok, that can explain it. Still just couldn't get why son many are going to BB. I never really go on purpose.

People who need something right know, or who want to shop in person/need someone to “explain” everything to them

Online shopping only accounts for 16% of retail sales. 84% of purchases are done in physical stores: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.digitalcommerce360.com/article/us-ecommerce-sales/amp/

So in reality, you're in the minority.

Surprising for tech stuff and in general, but also there are things that first place to think is say hardware store. But I just find out Amazon have super glue too and spray paint. I said 😬😬😬 I would go get them 5 days ago and didn't bother until today when I saw the line at BB. And actually cheaper though not by a lot. I have same day or next day delivery, though the hardest part is just to get up and get on Amazon and do a bit of comparison if say I want a screen protector or anything that's not clear cut ot don't already have.

I also have scheduled delivery for dayly items paste, brushes, shampoo, conditioner etc. I also use on and off Blur Apron or hello fresh fir food. And at times have group food buy from vendors or grocery store shipping.

People forget that Best Buy price matches Amazon and other online retailers.  If I can buy something for the same price at Best Buy (Amazon charges tax in my state anyways), I'm going to go to Best Buy.  I'll get it same day that way.

I just don't like to bother and the time wasted from going there. And once you are there, since you are already there, you know how it goes.

2nd thing is they certainely do feel more expensive, but not or even less exclusive. And if you want price matching when it is less expensive on Amazon, you have a 2nd step.

I mean BB isn't Microcenter, even then if it is too far I won't go. When I am near them.

The time wasted?  It's at least two days shipping with Amazon.  So you order a 120GB SSD let's say for $20.
Cool, we wasted 2 days to get it.

I wasted 10 minutes max at Best Buy just to pull up the same SSD on Amazon for $20, so they can change the price at the register.

As for knowing how what goes?  I like the human interaction, Best Buy doesn't really have pushy sales people or anything, they're typically super chill.
