i7-6700T Upgradability

Hey Guys, So I'm Pretty Savvy With PCs But Not Really In The TDP Aspect Of Processors.

So My Question Is:

I Have An All In One With A Desktop Grade i7-6700T. It Is Rated At 35 Watts.

That Is There Compatibility With Something Like An i5-10400 Or i5-9400?

They Are Supposedly 65 Watts Base TDP.

The Power Supply On It Is Only A 180w Max But I'm Unsure Due To Different Websites Saying Different TDP.

I Stick With Ark But Just Wanted A Second Opinion.

You can't use 10th gen, likely can't use 9th either, you might be able to use something from 7th gen, but it wouldn't be worth the upgrade.

I also wouldn't really trust the cooling solution to use a higher TDP chip.

All in all, I don't think you can upgrade your rig. Time to rebuild.

The motherboard would not work with those. The 6700T is LGA 1151v1, while the 10400 is LGA 1200 and the 9400 (and everything 8th/9th gen) is 1151v2.

Best the socket can handle is a 7700K, but I would not be sure the BIOS is compatible with that. Maybe a 6700(K) would work? But that's a minimal upgrade.

I wouldn't bother upgrading the CPU in that machine, the 6700T basically the best you should use in the machine.

You can't drop a newer generation CPU into it as it wont be supported. I assume changing the motherboard on the system wont be realistic. A 7700T might be possible but this gets you at best 200 MHz it isn't really worth the effort.

If the cooling is up to it you could try one of the regular CPUs of that age, or even consider modifying the cooling if at all possible.

Appreciate The Help Guys.

Cooling Really Isnt The Biggest Issue Here. It's Will The 180w Power Supply Be Enough To Support Something Like The i7-7700?

Appreciate It Man, But Cooling Isn't Really The Problem. It's That If The 180w Power Supply Can Handle Something Like The i7-7700?

I Would Like It To But My Hopes Aren't Great.

No, those are a different socket

you can try it, but depends on how much power the rest of it pulls.

And even then, thatas not a big upgrade.
