Has anyone made a DIY AIO yet?

Basically an AIO using custom parts and no reservoir? Can you post pictures please if you have?

It's literally called a custom loop.

few reasons. I wanna put a 360 in the front, 40mm thick. But I dont really have space for a reservoir, and also i dont really like the look of most AIO pumps, perhaps the NZXT pump head is nice with the infinity window, but with most AIOs come some sort of propriety fixing or software. I fancied just doing something abit different. so the respond question to that is. . . why not?

The thing is, if you don’t like the look of aio pumps, you won’t like the looks of those absolute chonky bois either

This is how they used to be made.  There is”open loop” and “closed loop”.  An AIO is just a premade closed no reservoir  loop. Having the pump on the block isn’t even required, it’s just convenient.

So “have they been made?” Oh yes.  “Are they still made?” No idea.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I use a Eisbaer LT in my system, it's AIO-like and also a big pain to bleed, but otherwise functional.

I was going to chime in and then realised that nobody should ever take water cooling advice from me, my last loop was a server with $8 ebay blocks, a pond pump, radiator fluid and hardware store vinyl tubing.....

Now that it's clear I'm an expert on things like this, there isn't much reason for people to not include a reservoir in their system (bar the obvious lack of space) but for people doing custom loops a large case is often a prerequesite. Water cooling is often just as much about the aesthetic as performance and cramped cases really often aren't conducive to either of those ideals.

Well if you're spending hundreds of dollars to make a custom loop you should definitely not be using a crappy tiny pump like an AIO.

A big benefit of custom loops is using larger more powerful pumps that can run quieter while moving more water.

Also, they are much more reliable and aren't attached to the CPU, so it's quieter and less prone to leaking.

If you REALLY need a super compact CPU block+pump because you're building mitx or something custom, then look at "expandable AIOs" which you can customize by adding tubing or radiators.

Since OP wanted photos, here's my Alphacool Eisbaer LT solo in a Ncase M1 build with 2x 240 mm radiators, 8700K and 1080Ti.
