How are people doing so many WU?

I was looking at all the info available over at extereoverclocking and I'm curious how some users are accomplishing so many WU in a day? I typically do 10-12 on my GPU and 8-10 on my CPU slot if I run all day so how are there users doing 50+ WU per day. Mind you I get almost 2m ppd.

Likely running multiple systems. My GTX 670 is the only thing folding right now, running at ~100k PPD. Or *would* be if it was running at all, i actually just realized it was stalled...

EDIT: Stall was nothing serious, just the F@H client being dumb. Im shocked this GPU has stuck around so well. Bought it at goodwill years ago.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Also I use FAHControl to monitor from my laptop (which is not folding!) and have all 3 running the babysitter script to try to keep all the slots constantly active.

I have 3 machines running, but waiting for a CPU to combine two of those as they have PCIE bottlenecks.

Same as everyone else: I've got 3 rigs running, but that's only netting me ~40 WU's per day.

I think another factor is that some WU's are bigger than others.  If you look at overall rankings ordered by total points, WUs are not very well sorted.  It's probably a case of WU's getting bigger over time, but I have nothing to base that on except my gut.

Yeah, I have two running as well. If they're getting multiple millions of WUs done, there must be some powerful hardware working there.

A P106/GTX 1060 is good for 300 to 400k PPD, my Vega 56 does 800k to 1mil PPD, RX580 is about the same as the P106 but uses a little more power.

I stopped folding at home this week due to not getting enough work units. It was fun for a while, until you realize you can’t run headless machines like your are supposed to and have to babysit. I‘m disappointed that it hasn’t changed much in the last 7 years or so and still hasn’t accomplished much research wise (I don’t care about journals that were posted 5 years ago, show me something new).

I bought 4 2080 supers just for covid (I got motivated!) and there is nothing more annoying than watching them be idle for hours at a time. Start, pause, start, pause, start, pause, etc. Instead, I did something that actually makes a difference, picked up a couple 3D printers and materials and joined a group to distribute them.

the babsitter script and advanced flag literally makes the client hassle free.  i havent been without a WU in weeks across 30 cards and 6 machines.

I have 7 running atm, 2 at my place (one with a compatible GPU), 4 at a different location and one dedicated server.

I have an 8th machine here that I'm gonna fire up with Linux (probably CentOS) and F@H later this week.

also running multiple clients, 5.

My gf´s rig & the surfdeck are folding 24/7. The Laptop too, exept I need to do work with TIA. They give a baseline about ~1.3mio ppd.

The main system is runing boinc or f@h over night and as often as my personal workloads allow it.

As for the system i lend to my best friend, he has been instructed to run f@h when he is not gaming...

until now didn´t bother with babysitter. Is runing pretty smooth, as I check it myself from time to time.

The only thing bothering me is when it get stuck over night and the retry timer lays in the hours...

I have my wife's computer folding now too but for some reason I can't get it to connect when I add it to the client list, apparently I'm missing something.

I'm feeling a drought as well, estimated PPD is down to just a hair over 1 mil, should be closer to 2 mil.  This isn't the kind of 'flattening the curve' I wanted.

Nope, I was moving RAM around. That rig now has 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200 so I can BOINC on 9 of the available threads
