  1. How big of an upgrade is it if I go from a 3570K @ 4.2GHz to a Core i5 10400 instead of a Core i5 10600K + Z490? I can save about $100 and I only game on a 1080P @ 75Hz monitor. Going to keep on using my RX570 for the time being due to supply constraints, but will eventually upgrade to a RTX 3060 Ti. Is running the 10400 @ 2.9Ghz compared to a 10600K @ 4.7GHz going to be that big of a difference in performance? According to Gamers Nexus the 10400 boosts to 3.6Ghz all core, so I can consider it to actually run at 3.6Ghz all the time?
  2. I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO right now. The Noctua was taken off another computer.
  3. It's not available for sale anywhere in Canada
  4. I don't have the parts yet and I have to see if I can get a mounting k it from Noctua. If not, I'm just gonna buy a new cooler when I pull the trigger.
  5. Got a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 sitting here and would it be a good pairing with the Core i5-10600K? I know it's old and it's not as good as today's coolers, but if it ain't broken, why bother buying a new one? I'm not chasing a crazy overclock so I'll probably run it at about 1.25V to 1.3V and 4.8GHz. I don't like pushing my CPU to the absolute limit so I can extend its longevity. Plus I got no need to push it that high anyways with the way I use my computer right now.

    ASUS NAS

Can someone guide me on how to set up a secure NAS within my LAN on my ASUS AC66U B1? I plugged in the external via USB 3.0 and have Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk enabled with guest login disabled. The router warns not to have guest login enabled but if I leave it disabled, when I double click the router, there's no username or password prompted and so I can't access the files on the NAS. I enabled SMB 1.0 in Windows 10 too.

  8. Got a few questtion about this build that I'm thinking about: I'll probably get 32GB RAM as Brooksie mentioned so I don't have to pay a premium for it 3 years later when production is reduced and prices go up. Any reason I shouldn't? My Corsair AX750 has served me very well for at least 5 years. Used to fold, mine crypto, etc but haven't done any of that in a few years now. Computer isn't even put under load that much anymore. I should be able to re-use the PSU right? The big question: Since I'm planning to have this build last 5 years minimum, regardless of whether I build
  9. 1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing. Playing through my Steam library that I got when games are on sale at 1080P and eventually 1440P with a 144Hz monitor. The most graphic intensive game I have is probably Metro 2033 Redux? If it can last 7 years like my Ivy Bridge set up, eventually 4K I guess? That's probably more GPU bound than CPU bound though, even 7 years later. I mostly play SC2 and CS:GO and will be streaming via OBS simultaneously. Not a professional streamer, just do it for fun. Though I mostly just browse the Inter
  10. I tried removing the last character but it remains greyed out. I guess I have to manually type it in? This was never a problem prior to iOS 14 as I was able to copy and paste my own WiFi password into my girlfriend's phone just fine a year ago.
  11. I'm trying to set up the WiFi password for my mom's new iPhone and my WiFi password is 63 digits consisting of letters and numbers. On Android, I can copy and paste the password and quickly join the WiFi network. However I tried doing that and the "join" button is greyed out after I copy the password. If I manually type it in, the "join" button is enabled. Is there a way around this? I don't want to type it one by one for when my friends come over and wanna use my WiFi on their iOS devices.
  12. I'm considering a new build and as much as I'd love to go AMD, it's way too expensive right now. Intel isn't cheap either but every so often, I see people say to get the Core i5 10400 as it's really underrated for the price. So I decided to take a look into that and then I came across the AsRock Base Frequency Boost. If I'm understanding this correctly, I can pair the Core i5 10400 and an AsRock motherboard, enable BFB, and my CPU can potentially run at 4GHz under heavy load provided the temperatures are under control? And with the sales right now, this combo would cost me about $400? Am I mis
  13. I'm considering putting together a new build to game at 1440P and trying to see how much I need to spend. If I proceed with the build, would my Corsair AX750 be sufficient to power a Zen 3 or Coffee Lake based system? It'd be paired with a RTX 3070 or AMD RX5600, though realistically, more likely the RTX 3060 when it gets released. I'd think it is but given the power supply is pretty old, not sure how it'll cope with today's systems. If it's sufficient, then I'll reuse the power supply and then just buy a cheaper quality power supply and case to use my Ivy Bridge system for other s
