about how much faster would w10 run if it was on ssd?

hddtosdd

You can't quantify with a number really. Depends what programs you have run on startup, and some other things.

If you're asking if it's worth it, then yes- very much so

Depending on what metric you use, it could totally be 500%.  Local data transfer, boot times and file access could easily quintuple in speed depending on the before/after hardware

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

you make it sound like 500% is excessive, but honestly it's a bit low of an estimate. Even cheap SSDs can be 10 times faster than a 7200 RPM drive, which would be 1000% faster. And don't even get me started on 5400 RPM drives.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Depends on the SSD too! Cheapest ssd can make a difference of 100-200% for sure!!

But 500% ? my guy you'll have to get an Nvme/M.2 i guess

A commodity Sata SSD could slash boot times to 1/5 compared to an HDD. Maybe not as much in Win10 with its "pretend you finished booting" strategy, but still.

Then there are HDD-specific issues like fragmentation and the need to read multiple files spread around (even if individually unfragmented) that can make the difference bigger than what a disk speed test would suggest.

With an SSD, it will be faster to bot, faster to logon, and faster to load programs.  More importantly though, it will stay fast forever, unlike an HDD where for whatever mysterious reason, causes Windows to just get slower and slower until it's unusable, forcing you to reinstall to reclaim your original speed.  I really don't miss those days ;)

By a lot indeed. Anything that takes time to load will be muxh faster and system will be snappier and way more responsive.
