Hi, I felt this was appropriate. I don't necessarily share Mencius' or Xunzi's views, I just like the philosophy.

Not sure which option to pick on the poll, probably the last one.

 

I treat strangers courteously, sometimes more politely than I treat my own family. I've found that at times, the more that I learn about a person, the less I respect them. Also, I'd say I'm a very "reactive" person -- if someone treats me well, I try my darnedest to return the favor, but if someone treats me like a door rug, I might hold a grudge. Eh... Been trying to break that habit. ?

None of them. I treat other people like they are good people unless something prove otherwise, but I do not think all people are inherently good, nor inherently bad.

Added a few more options.  I'm usually completely introverted unless online or with a very close circle of friends...so this is more of a casual, situational set of questions.  I'm growing increasingly dissatisfied with humanity in general (as I always seem to be the more I pay attention to the news) so I'm curious how other people are.

Fun fact, I work in customer service...I enjoy helping people, but I deal with a lot of people that aren't polite...

I consider that inherently human beings are mainly concerned by what effects them and their direct familial cell directly.

Very few individuals can truly go beyond this first cell of concern and truly feel altruistic. There are the ones, imo, who redeem us.

Funnily enough, I find the fact that what made us successful as a specie (learn to cooperate with others in order to survive) is also the thing that now slows us dows and prevent us to evolve as the 2nd cell of concern (social cell) is the one predominent nowadays.

No one ever does anything for others if it doesn't benefit them in some way (feelings great about yourself for "doing a good thing" without asking anything in return is still a selfish thought, since you've only helped to have that feeling about yourself afterward)

 

Anyone who randomly just come up to you, a complete stranger to them, while you're eating out... Is annoying. But I'd at least see what they want and try to get them to get them out of my face ASAP so I can get back to eating while it's still hot.

Unless it's some entitled jerkoff who start complaining to me about one thing or another that's unreasonable or not even my fault, like go frick yourself and mind your own damn business.

 

I hate social interaction as a whole, so introvert it is. I'm forever a wall decoration at parties... When I'm forced to go anyway. Otherwise I prefer to just stay at home as far away from "people" as possible and do my own things.

people only do things that benefit themselves. even people claiming to do a selfless act, do it for their own merit. either to make people feel more highly of themselves, or directly to influence people to help them out later.

Generally speaking, people are fucking assholes. Almost always tend to only care about themselves. I’m very outwardly knowledgeable about my inferiority for that very reason. 

And, if you couldn’t guess already, I’m a massively awkward introvert who has autism to top that off.
