I caught that all-important moment on Social Blade. Figured I'd share it!

PS, I made this thread. I created the title and posted it with the screenshot below. Not sure how Dwane took over as OP, but if this shows up on WAN Show I'd like to have the credit :)

They do, Linus already admitted that and people can't help themselves, that's why it is so prevalent.  In fact I wouldn't be surprised if youtube tell/urge content creators to use them and give guidelines on which ones work best.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Or perhaps those less clickbaity than average titles.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

GamersNexus doesn't use clickbait titles and these flashy thumbnails. I like GamersNexus contents more than Linus contents, and this is my personal opinion. I wish LTT content like GamersNexus content. No flashy thumbnails and clickbait titles.

I can relate. I'm 38 and have kids, i feel the same way about consumerism, worrying about FPS when people are starving, etc. starts to feel like stupid silly shit.

Pretty depressing state to fall into.

@Mister WoofThe thing to look forward to is, in the last few decades, real starvation and real poverty have dropped by something insane like 70% and the trend isn't even slowing down. Despite the daily news (who really need rage to drive click) we are pretty much entering a golden age, and a lot of that is driven by computers and technology amd access to information.

Even things people are talking about like they're unstoppable end of the world events like global warming are, with the technology, easy to control. You don't need electric cars; just Gen 4 nuclear to power reforesting the Sahara, and Falcon Heavy to put up sun shades, and only when it actually comes to that.

Beyond that we're developing mini-facturing like something out of Mass Effect and dozens of other very powerful tech that will make the future better than we can imagine it.

Fear and anger sells newspapers, but the world is on the precipice of unbelievable things.

Consumerism has its downsides, but no one really wants to live in a cave, burning fallen trees for warmth and foraging for food. You don't need to feel guilt about having a hobby or living in a better circumstance than other people, that is life. Whether you're religious (God's will/testing faith), or not (chaos theory/products of our environment), it's obvious that everyone has a different life to live.

This is all true.

I think he feels like he's not contributing to society, or even his own family. And that can be a very powerful feeling.

Speaking for myself (as that is all I am really qualified to speak for) after the reality of being a grown up and making money and having kids and a house etc....after all of that...you start to wonder what are you doing it all for, why do you have this lifestyle and why do others not, is it bootstraps or luck or what? And then you start to resent the petty tasks you do at your job, the stupid things people complain about when there's so much more we should be doing. Knowing there's an entire universe to explore, problems to solve.....I get that feeling sometimes when I'm at my desk working on some pointless case that doesn't actually help anyone, just playing my role as a cog in the machine.

It's true others achieve great things, but sometimes you feel like you're not supporting those human achievements or even making your own mark on the world in an actual positive way. Then you look back at all that time spent and you realize your kids are grown, they don't want to hang out with you anymore, and your body is old, and time has passed you by.

Congrats on 10m!

Linus went hard swerve in the livestream. He also didn't realize how hard telling the dying child story would hit him while retelling it. I think he had to recenter himself three times during it. In the end, Linus is still there, but I get the feeling he's going to make the other staff host more videos.

If you've secured a future for your children, you've accomplished more than most have ever been able to, historically. Frankly, most of history would kill you to have your position, so, in many ways, you've "won" at the game of life. It's taken the entirety of human development to reach a point where much of the world isn't in fear of starving, freezing to death, plagues or all of the general problems that exist outside of a modern public health approach. One should be thankful, even if there's always work to do.

But there's never a reason to be a Karen. But there's always been Karens.

Oh, I completely agree. I am blessed that I have a stable job, retirement, medical care, and a home. Without question. I think it's kind of ironic that it's because of that which allows me to have the "luxury" of bemoaning my lack of societal impact. You know, because not totally focused on not dying immediately.
