what exactly do you mean by 16gb at the very least and not enough memory? not enough memory for what exactly?

how the heck does 4GB sound enough for a modern system anyways? My system, albeit being full of unnecessary background tasks that I could live without, takes 6GB RAM just after boot. Even typical laptops for paper work are recommended to have 8GB memory, so your 4GB plan will not go well. Let alone being a multi transcoding + Plex server.

combination of title and say 4gb of ram. Do you guys reckon it will be enough for a plex media server that will be running 24/7? will need to be able to transcode 4k hdr content, maybe even multiple instances of it.

There is something known as expansion cards that cost 30$ and give you even more Sata ports.

B450m Pro4 is more than fine.

$35AUD on amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/IO-Crest-Controller-Non-Raid-SI-PEX40064/dp/B00AZ9T3OU

Much less than that on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SSU-SA3004-4-Port-6G-PCI-E-to-SATA3-0-Expansion-Miner-SSD-IPFS-Controller-Card/383164367534?hash=item59366042ae:g:xhIAAOSwQA1dhK3E

You can probably find better deals if you look harder

B450 + R5 2600 is more reasonable, if not the R7 2700. 3200G is just a Zen+ based quad core with Vega 8, not much improvement over the 2200G and still worse than the 2400G, not that the quad cores are good for running servers on anyway. X570 board here is just a budget hog. so expensive that you dont even have enough memory (16GB at the very least)

Good point, I can do 8.. 16 is excessive... 8 should be enough. 16 for gaming yeah but for just plex...
