-12V was changed from a pair of Schottky diodes to D2D for better regulation, but I really wish they'd just kill that rail altogether.  😞

Gotta make sure you don't upset those plentiful RS232 users though, of course.

Just want to inform people, my 4 months old InWin P75 80 plus Gold (LTT tier list A) has stopped working.

I believe issue is the fan.

Symptom is:

Fan will not trigger under high load, PSU overheated itself, it triggered over temp protection I believe, resetted the PSU, boot up again, fan still not working with me applying 500W load to it ( for 5 seconds, this won;'t break the PSU in any cases, but the fan should spin due to the design of this PSU), smell burnt plastic.

I hope this is an isolated case, but seeing this PSU is on clearance for 80 CAD, I wonder if it has some manufacture defect on the fan or other component.

at least it didn't break my 3090. Was in the middle of designing some circuit and puff

You have to change out a lot of your layout if you move from TO220 FETs to SMT TDSON package to improve efficiency and thermals because triangles.

you love triangles! right? 😄

Can anyone confirm if I've read the tier list right, I'm a little confused. The below PSU would be an A tier, good PSU?

HX Series™ HX750 — 750 Watt 80 PLUS® Platinum Certified Fully Modular PSU (CP-9020137-UK)

Someone can, as long as they're willing to convert formatting from HTML to BB-codes and as long as it would be allowed by forum mods to credit the source (as required by CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license).

A bit confused as to some of thermaltake entries.  Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB Gold is a low priority A tier whereas the Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB Gold Sync Edition is a C tier.  I do see that their product codes are different but wouldnt their parts be basically the same (besides maybe an rgb chip to sync with the mb).  Wouldnt that make them both C tier?

Even further, looking at the list that the spreadsheet links to (https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/) the gold sync edition is A tier on it? What caused it to jump up?

No, welcome to Thermaltake.

We assume that the problem with the OTP it was in tier C because were fixed so we moved it up because people were asking about it a lot.

"No, welcome to Thermaltake."

That seriously made me laugh.  I was asking because I actually have the non sync version and was thinking the relatively high inrush that the sync version had probably applied to it as well and thus the rating.  Having them both in the A tier helps my peace of mind a bit.

Guys does anyone have any more info on this new PSU from Blitzwolf?

Its called Blitzwolf BW-CP1 and they have a 400w or 600w version. The price is really great but really curious if anyone tested it yet?

Blitzwolf is known to make great products at a budget price.

Yeah, perhaps not this one. But i'm sure there are no reviews, and if the pictures they've provided there are of real product, it looks like something from the OEM Zalman usually employs for their budget PSUs, but there are no actual reviews on them either and from what we've seen so far they so far don't look like good products either.

If you want a PSU recommendation then please create a new thread, providing your build specs, usecase, country/retailer links and budget for PSU.

Not this one.  And now everything with their name on it is called into question because people don't know what to look for.

Just wanted to say I've had my Super Flower Leadex V Gold Pro 850 for a few weeks now.

I know the real test is how long it will last, but so far I love it.

It's silent, I've never been able to hear the fan. It's very small (130MM). And best of all it fixed all the issues I was having from the Gamemax 850W PSU. No more jet engine when gaming, and Red Dead 2 dose not crash anymore unless I downclock and lower the power limit of my card.

I could tell a difference in quality between the two just from the included power cable (the one that goes from PSU to the wall). The one with the Super Flower is noticeably thicker than the one that came with the Gamemax.

I'll open up the Gamemax and post a few pics for fun later today.

Hi, i haven't heard about UTechSmart & Hiearcool PSUs, what do you think? I found them a few weeks ago while shopping on Amazon during break.

They're virtually unknown brands in the PC Components space and they're usually known for their USB Hubs and Mouses:

UTechSmart PSU: Here

Hiearcool PSU: Here

Since they're strange brands to be selling a PSU, my best guess is that they're based off some Segotep PSUs (The UTechSmart's 80Plus rating is tied to a Segotep PSU and the Hiearcool PSU has the same specs as a 750w Segotep PSU)

But that's all i know about these PSUs.

Weird though, because the Segotep PSUs the Hiearcool and UTechSmart PSUs are presumably based off does claim OTP:
750w Segotep PSU Here

850W Segotep PSU Here

The model number for either of them aren't listed in the 80plus database, however I think that's because the model numbers used publicly aren't the same as the ones they used internally, but then the most recent 750w ATX PSU registered by Segotep in the Database is from 2011, and that put me in a tail spin.

These Segotep PSUs have the exact same listed specs and sticker design as the Hiearcool and UTechSmart PSUs so i'm about 85% sure they're similar models albeit the 2 "rebranded" PSUs come with RGB. Maybe they downgraded some things on the rebranded models, i wouldn't know, i didn't buy any of them.

sorry for rambling

edit: wait i don't even think the 2011 Segotep 750w PSU is the same 750w ATX PSU they're selling today. It doesn't seem modular and it's input current is slightly different (though mind you i know nothing about psus so please call me out on my bluff if that's just something that varies between psus), im confused

Here is the inside of the Gamemax RGB 850 I have thankfully replaced with a FAR better PSU. Just thought I 'd share for fun. Anyone here able to comment about just how bad the quality is by what you see? I tried to get a clear pic of the MOSFET's but couldn't.
