Why are Macs seemingly always used for music creation?

It seems to me like just about every music creation studio and DJ booth I've seen is using a Mac(book). Is there some good reason for this or are music people just really into overly expensive computers?

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

because of Mac software. GarageBand and Logic Pro X are pretty common software for those people

 

Also Apple's brand image and the fact that if you're interested in dealing with music, you're probably not so good with hardware and lousy Windows (let alone Linux)

So those programs can't be installed for Windows?

yes, Mac OS specific. Could you hack Mac OS into a custom system... yes? but these pros are rich enough not to care about that, they could afford a Mac easy.

They rely on the computer for their job so they need something that will work. /s

 

Logic Pro is a pretty big reason and Apple's support for MIDI devices

macOS' superior ease of use as well as being the sole OS for what are arguably the best all around music creation app, Logic Pro.

 

Not to say that apps don't exist on Windows, but macOS simply caters more to the creative types. Thats why they have Final Cut Pro (which is FAR superior to premier and vegas, fight me)

To give Apple credit,their software is really good.

But the hardware is very sketchy,even in 2017 apple used to sell haswell Macs for more than $1000,

These days they sell dual core macs for $1000,

Their flagship Macs run dangerously hot since Apple raised the thermal throttling limit above safe levels.

And not even to talk about the design flaws and failures of their Macs.

 

MacOS = Great

Mac laptop = Bad

the software just works better and is more intuitive. you can just drag and dropped a hole album into a software and it will load the tracks while similar windows software you have to go open go through the file software and then you can only do track by track. So what on mac was a five second two click task is a annoying multiple minuet hundreds of clicks and files later.

Even though i uh, "dislike" apple, we use them for music production at the studio i master at. Mostly for ease of use, available programs, also decently powerful for the software we use. I use both MacOS and Windows every day. MacOS has much better midi support, one midi signal(example a keyboard connected via USB) can be used on more than one application at a time. In windows I have to download a virtual midi bus to get this function. And I think sound setup is also easier to manage on a mac. 
But to be honest, you don't really need a mac to make music, there are many good DAWs on Windows too, like Ableton and FL Studio.

The industry standard software for the most part are FL Studio and Ableton live. Which are available on both windows and Mac

Logic Pro X is mac exclusive and is still quite popular.

I'm a windows user for the most part, but mac does have some advantages in terms of audio and support for various protocols relating to it that does make it easier to use in some situations. However I wouldn't say its "Better"

Keep in mind a lot of the time its fashion. A producer or artist may be using a mac on stage, but in their studio they will be using a windows PC.

Same reason as why you'll see artists/DJ's wearing beats headphones on stage or in promotional videos etc. But they sure as hell won't be using those for actual work.

Fashion plays a big part in it. And macs are a fashion accessory to a fair extent
