What's your ideal phone?

dizmo

So every so often I like to see how peoples views of their ideal phone has changed. There's been some crazy advances over the years, and they've definitely changed what I look for in a phone.

I used to want something with a massive 6,000mah battery (I was shocked when the ROG Phone II had one! However, it's too large of a device for me to consider), but that's been replaced by legit fast charging and improved battery life year over year from the package.

What are your guy's hopes for future devices?

This is mine:

  • Flagship SoC
  • 8GB RAM
  • 256GB storage
  • 6.3" display
  • 90hz AMOLED display, curved
  • Under display front facing camera
  • 4 rear cameras, OIS stabilized
  • Stereo speakers
  • 4,200 mah battery
  • 75w fast charger
  • 50w wireless charging
  • Case built into the phone, but in a nice, stylish way

A lot of the things I have on my list are available in upper-mid tier phones, which is awesome. There are still a few things that haven't come around yet, like the under display camera and the 75w fast charging, but really, those will likely arrive in the next year or so. I'm hoping the next Samsung ticks a lot of these boxes.

Haha, agreed. I'm actually looking forward to next years iPhone. They can't possibly rehash the same design again.

I'd just like an iPhone 5s-style phone with more modern hardware.

I think those days dreams are dead. I saw a report that the next cheap Apple phone will be modeled after the iPhone 8.

Which is sad. I actually wouldn't mind one of the older style phones for a travel phone. Nice and compact. Looks like I'll be hunting down a XZ1 Compact instead.

Curious, why? Those phones have absolutely horrid screen to body ratios.

Have you ever held a Razer Phone 2? The edges look so sharp to me. My friend got one and loves it...and hasn't complained about any new holes in his pants so I imagine it's not too bad. Would you want iOS as well?

Was I supposed to care about that ratio? I must have missed that memo.

i've held it, not much different than my Xperia, i like the clean , sharp designs. not a fan of the super rounded corners everyone makes.

Don't really care about OS, i'm not heavily ingrained into either ecosystem so i can easy switch when ever i liked

Ahh nice. I'd just be afraid of them ripping a hole in my pants.

Gotcha! I wish Android was more optimized, but I get why it isn't.

Just give me an iPhone 11 Pro Max with USB C, Pro Motion and no notch, no headphone jack cluttering up the bottom either. The iPhone 4 inspired design we're starting to see in renders would be pretty nice too

SD710 level of SOC

6Gb of RAM

good battery life like P30pro level of good.

no more than 75mm width and 18:9 ratio screen.

stereo speaker and headphone jack

okay camera with ultra wide. I don't need top-notch photo quality.

no notch or a small tear-drop one. I don't mind a small forehead and chin. like lg-g6 design is really solid looking to me.

at least ip67.

clean and simple OS. like oneplus and sony's OS
