Free games with AMD announcements

Thready

https://www.pcworld.com/article/3441866/amd-bundles-ryzen-radeon-with-borderlands-3-the-outer-worlds-and-ghost-recon-breakpoint.html

"AMD is offering free games to sweeten its already-kick-ass GPU and CPU offerings. Called the “Radeon Raise the Game” and “Ryzen Equipped to Win” bundles, they offer a mixture of Borderlands 3, The Outer Worlds, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint."

I was thinking of getting the 3600 but now I think I'm going to get the 3600X because I can get Borderlands 3 with it. The 3600X is $239 on Newegg and I believe the same price at my Microcenter which means I'm only paying $30 more to get a $60 game and I'm getting a hardware bump with it.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm not going to upgrade to a Ryzen until November anyway so by then we'll have some reviews of The Other Worlds and if it's good then I can justify spending the extra on beefier hardware. The 3800X is $380 right now.

Little did they know, The Outer Worlds is playable for free as long as you have the Xbox game pass on PC.

Spoiler

It's the only game out of the three that I care about, and I was super excited to see it included since I'm still refusing to jump onto the EGS pain train.

I like Game Pass, don’t get me wrong, but I also like owning a game. Things go on and off of Game Pass.

Fair enough! I just know for certain that once I complete the game, I won't touch it ever again, so I don't really care if it stays mine or not. I don't have enough free time to play all new games that I'm interested in, let alone playing something that came out in the past, and I'm pretty sure there are other people like me out there.

I'm really starting to regret my intel build from last blackfriday. Would love to go with amd for better linux drivers. Guess I'll stay at windows for now.

Can you return it and just say something like "The fan stopped!" and then buy it again?

Nah... I got it at a bargain price that will never be repeated.  I had Amazon screw up and gave me some compensation for, so I used that against the card... It should have been around £420, I paid £325.

I'd rather make the saving than get Borderlands 3... I like free stuff.. But I like 25% off more.  :)

I never liked bundling. I would prefer a a price cut over being forced to buy a game or other product I don't want.

They probably can't do it though because doing these promotions probably cost less in the long run than a price cut.

But I don't know actually. I'm just guessing why they might not be able to do that.
