Best / Preferred PC hardware manufacturers?

Inception9269

I always had an ASUS mobo, for no particular reason other than I liked the look of my first one and got so used to the UEFI/BIOS that I just stick with it.

GPU is usually ASUS as well, I don't really like the look of the Gigabyte/MSI/Zotac/etc cards

RAM and PSU have always been Corsair for me, but I am buying a Seasonic PSU in the next week. I've only heard good things about them and I think der8auer endorses them and I trust what he does.

For cases I only really like Phanteks and NZXT.

Mouse is Razer all day - you cannot convince me to use something besides my Naga. Keyboard is some random Chinese brand from Amazon, but I love it. I will never use anything other than a HyperX headset because my cloud II is awesome.

Corsair makes everything in a PC except for a Mobo And cpu. If only they pulled a NZXT and made a Mobo...

I haven't really used enough different hardware to develop objective preferences, but ASUS has served me exceedingly well in the mobo and GPU department. Even a dirt cheap crappy notebook laptop I bought for them has worked flawlessly for quite a few years now.

As for peripherals, I love Logitech, and can vouch for the quality of the old Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Classic keyboard.

Ryzen 1600x @4GHz

Asus GTX 1070 8GB @1900MHz

16 GB HyperX DDR4 @3000MHz

Asus Prime X370 Pro

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

Noctua NH-U14S

Seasonic M12II 620W

+ four different mechanical drives.

I have admittedly limited exposure as I havent really been back in the PC game for long, less than a year, but in that time I have built two rigs so I guess ill weigh in.

Mobo, I had a gigabyte x470 gaming 7 but I now have a MSI Meg Ace and much prefer it

For GPU I followed everyone's recommendation and bought a EVGA, have been exceptionally happy with it

Power Supply, Corsair was my choice there

RAM Corsair wins again

Fans Once again I went with corsair but at this point it was partially due to trying to cut down the amount of RGB ecosystems I had to deal with

Hard Drives, I have an ADATA m.2 and an Intel m.2. The ADATA is faster but I got more space for less money with the intel and have not been able to detect a difference in speed as a gamer so I would buy intel again if I needed another

Cooling, I had a corsair AIO in my last build but in this build I went full custom loop and used Bytski almost exclusively and my ONLY complaint is the pump is very loud, although I am also using an open chassis so that doesnt help either. Regardless unless I absoluely had to I would never go back from custom loop.

I'm not a very firm believer in brand loyalism, but I do have my preferences.

Case: Fractal

PSU: Seasonic or Corsair

Motherboard: MSI (only brand I have never had issues with)

CPU Cooler: bequiet! or Noctua

GPU: Gigabyte or asus

Optical drives: Asus

HDDs: WD

Other components either simply have not mattered regardless of brand in my experiences, such as RAM and SSD's.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

GPU: Zotac as they generally offer pretty competitive pricing for my location, also available easily, Sapphire for AMD GPUs

SSD: Crucial for more budget-friendly options, ADATA for higher-end

Mobos: Asrock for budget-friendly options, MSI or Gigabyte (Intel only) otherwise, but I must say Gigabyte's BIOS is rather irritating to navigate

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600  Heatsink: ID-Cooling Frostflow X GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB RAM: KLEVV Bolt 3600Mhz (2x8GB) Mobo: ASUS B550-F ROG Strix (Wifi)  Case: Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: Deepcool DQ-M-V2L

I am not loyal to any brand.

But I do for example end up going with the same manufacturer for for example HDDs, Seagate, because they are usually cheaper for the same thing.

I am more loyal to spesific features. For example phones, headphone jack and fingerprint sensor on the back.

It matters that you don't just give up.”

None.

Brand loyalty, especially when it comes to PC hardware, is foolish.

Seasonic fanboyism is just as bad as Intel or Nvidia, but Seasonic has never provided the reason for it.

I want to like Fractal Design cases, but they think it is great idea to have over 9000 SKUs for the same chassis. Oh, and S2 Vision.

Asus has been dropping the ball regarding motherboards left and right, Gigabyte is more or less consistently trash (physical product might be fine, software and support is cancer tier), MSi can drop the ball too (B350/X370 lineup), ASRock gonna ASRock.

AMD used to be absolute dog shit when it came to CPUs (Faildozer), but they turned tables around. On the other hand, Intel went from legendary platform like Sandy Bridge to being a meme.

Ex-EX build: Liquidfy C+... R.I.P.

Ex-build:

Meshify C – sold

Ryzen 5 1600x @4.0 GHz/1.4V – sold

Gigabyte X370 Aorus Gaming K7 – sold

Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 GB @3200 Mhz – sold

i dont think there is one "the best" it can be you get what you pay for.

With motherboards higher end boards give you more features in bios and better components.

Finding the most popular motherboard in the middle is probably the key, you can do this through best sellers on your usual hardware buying places.

PSU's i've tried a few different brands over the decades i went to Corsair about 10 years ago and never had an issue.

When i say issue i had a few power supplies with coil whine and its a very annoying thing to experience, but never had that issue with Corsair.

Graphics if you're going to be taking it apart and putting new thermal compound on it or water cooling it, EVGA has a good warranty they don't care if you take it apart.

Unfortunetly some other manufacturers will void your warranty for doing that, so if you are planning to do that check what the warranty covers.

Apart from that its mostly same PCB components its really down to what one do you like the look of.

if you are going to buy the lowest cost GPU and its some non common brand from China you might have issues with the Fan quality or cooling performance.

Any of the mainstream brands will all work for you, i guess the rule is buy the middle or a middle on sale. the lowest priced part probably isn't the best. :)

I did however buy an MSI Motherboard last time around ZPower it was pretty expensive and the features half of them never worked even after Bios upgrades. The Raid functions never worked for M.2 Raid booting. it was a disaster.

I can see a few comments here MSI dropped the ball. I have been happy with my ROG Motherboard but its hell expensive. but with the overclocking i am doing its worth it. ROG do make middle level boards.

My Personal System Builds are below and i have found them reliable.

PSU: Corsair

MB: Asus ROG

Memory: Corsair

GPU: EVGA

SSD: Samsung
