Making youtube videos

I'm an editor in my school paper/news, I'm thinking of starting my own YouTube channel on gears/techs students like myself use. I'm wondering if my home rig is enough for the editing and maybe a little streaming.

My home build :

I'll be using my brother's server for storage.

Yea for sure, I have a somewhat similar build to yours (R7 1700, so generation older, but more cores, RX 580, 16GB) and it holds up pretty well in editing (I edit using Davinci Resolve - your mileage mare vary in a different program of course).

It is nice however in Davinci Resolve to use the 'Generate optimized media'  feature as this speeds up your playback.

If upgrade the gpu to a 1660ti and you’d be perfect. The rx is a good gpu but I still recommend getting something better...

the rx 580 is perfectly fine, I don't really see a need for an upgrade at all. The 1660 Ti would be better but it wouldn't be a gigantic jump.

I prefer AMD cards due to freesync, if I do have to upgrade my brother has a Vega 56 lying around, since he bought 1 for $258
