LTT Conglomerate main discussion thread

Or we could be an honest and open org, laid-back to the prospect of not bothering about covert ops and not risking all the bruhaha that comes with being caught with spies in other people's pies.

And even if we did chose to have a spying branch down the road, there is 0 point to exclaiming that we have one.

this so much, we are the second largest org ATM, being open is the best way to deal whit most operation, otherwise we are spy bait, keeping secrets is the hardest thing to do, an IMO that just wasted resource, though some thing should be private, but just very big stuff, like the details of op kingfish, everything else should stay open

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

i use to have the second best link in the world here, but it died ;_; its a 404 now but it will always be here

The rest is just gibberdish and happy thoughs.

It is worth thinking about but I agree we should be entirely above board, we are a big enough org that people and other orgs will already be wary of us already, if we get caught with spies then well we will become the evil empire... We should dress Linus up in his stormtrooper armour and build a deathstar!

Most big governments spy on other ones. Why? To protect themselves.

I cant see this being 100% possible, because mining will take place in some of the less safe places.  These mining areas are going to be raided on the regular.  Our positions will often be compromised if we are open and just allow anyone in.

Same with trading runs.  We will have to cross less desirable space to get to some of the more lucrative areas.

But we are already open, all this can be avoided with a strong military escort

That would be very bad financially.

How?

You'd have to pay all the escorts, you'd make a lot less money.

While I agree that having spys may be disagreeable to many, having a counter intellagnce arm within our own org, to help manage or prevent spying on us may be helpful.

I concur with the expense of guards for ops, but sometimes you gotta. Best bet there is offer a cut instead of a flat fee. so they get 15% bumped to 20% if combat happens. Although if the op fails due to combat, 20% of 0 means they don't get paid.

the Freelancer has yet to go thru a finsh pass, as we don't have the buttons or turret access or a working docking collar either.

Well if its in org then everyone takes a cut. Lets face it the 3 popular things atm is military mining and pirates, your not going to find a secret patch, pirates will be scouting mining fields and people aren't going to share a good mining spot.

Better to have a force to reckon with than underarmed and out gunned and muscle your way so UOLTT miners have a spot that is protected

Huge thanks to @Nit3Rid3R and @Wyzguy for the new and fancy info-graphic!

UOLTT-Cover.jpg

While I'm here and talking about the org page, I'd like to announce that we're going to be running a competition as of this post until (I'll edit that in when I've decided :P)

We need to get the org page completely revamped, with awesome graphics!

There's 4 things we need to update and they're as follows;

Banner : 1140x380
Background : 1266x768
Logo : 175x175
Icon : 24x24

We need them to be fancy and sleek; we want to attract people on our own merit, not only just by shout-outs, because of this, we need to step up our presentation of the org. Right now we pale in comparison to may orgs out there, most notably Imperium, L.A.M.P. and the Black Widow Company.

So if you want to contribute and help us look the best we possibly can; post with your creations in seperate spoilers with the title of the spoiler being the name of the image (background, Banner, Logo, Icon) and other members can give their input towards it, not only this, but to help further entice you all, the winner will get their icon, logo, banner and background put forward to represent the org out there!

Lets get this done guys! And lets get our org looking positively spiffing! :D

And if the awesome @Shrubpig wouldn't mind posting the shield again. that'd be much appreciated ^_^

I think the actual logo is perfect, I will soon a cool poster that can be remade or used for bg or banner if enough people like it,

also all my fan art is free to use from UOLTT if the council wants https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/116794/star-citizen-fan-art-by-artofinca

Not if we umm appropriate the attacking ships after the attempted sortie and then sell them or repair and distribute them out to our own forces.

What happens if your ship is destroyed and you have no ships or money? Are we going to have space hobos?

hahah, space hobos, no.

If you fly in UEE space every ship has to be registered and you pay "hull insurance" fee with ingame credits which covers your ship, but not its contents/cargo (it's just like with cars in RL). So if it gets destroyed the "insurance company" provides you with a new ship.

Don't quote me on this as I might be wrong but that's how I understand it.

You could hire out your services as a gunner or target dummy for a cheap rate, building up your finances to buy a cheap ship again. In reality I think this is the reason for the insurance, so that you can fall back on that when things go boom to do some maybe less dangerous missions to build up your cash again. @A/C has the just of it.

That could actually make a great book, Space Hobo: The attack of the jelly monster -- A novella comprising the adventures of Harold Sputnik, A destitute middle aged man living on the fringes of space and left over crusts of bread. Once a highly trained and decorated member of the UEE Special forces he was court martialed for public indecency. In this new adventure he finds a long forgotten jar of raspberry jelly which has become sentient and is out for vengeance!

I'd buy that book! I think I'm going to be a hobo in game befriending space bears.

Did you meet Desmond the Moon Bear yet? I heard he is a nice guy. (He's also dead, but that don't matter ;))

New to Star Citizen? Look no further!
