What you mean by "built for Linux out of the box". Just about any PC can run Linux, so...Please explain better. Also, for those requirements, you don't need something too fancy, just a half-decent motherboard with a Ryzen 3 or 5 will do just fine.

I can't remember where I heard it from or the company name but a company does exist that manufactures laptops that come with Linux pre-installed.

Wish I could be of more help than that. I can tell you they exist though.

Well, you could just buy a pre-built, if you don't want to build your own machine, and install your desired Linux distribution on it.

Dell did Linux systems in the past, don't know if they still do it. Don't think they really took off as they weren't priced that much different from Windows.

Get a refurb Thinkpad x220 - make sure it's the IPS version and slap in an ssd if it doesn't come with one. I've used one for over 4 years with Linux and it's been rock solid. You can usually find them for 200$ or less.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

They still do, apparently they have some following in the enterprise. Besides, it barely costs them anything to just ship them with Ubuntu and the enterprise sector does require decent Linux compatibility in some scenarios.

As mentioned above, Dell sells brand new laptops with Linux pre-installed.  Pretty sure any of their Windows laptops will run Linux just fine too.

well,, every task linux capable of, also capable to windows...

I want linux because it tastes different, most of the time more efficient than windows.

And I want preinstalled Linux machine because it guarantee the long term use without worrying about driver incompatibilities...

Get ryzen 2200g, 8 gigs of ddr4, and motherboard, cheap $30 case, cheap 300w PSU, cheap Kingston ssd, flash drive with Ubuntu OR fedora(one of my favorite distribution) on it to live boot.

That's all you need.

If you want cheap laptop, just get any cheap windows laptop and wipe windows off of it.

If you want laptop with Linux preinstall under $500, the closest you can get is a Chromebook.

Set its OS update channel to beta and you will get a terminal, install package managers like apt, and run literally any Linux apps out of box.

Android studio and IDEs like Clion are all supported as well as popular text editor like atom. Chrome OS runs on top of Linux kernel and is itself based off Gentoo Linux so there is nothing unorthodox and "unlinux" about the experience.

Yes but responsiveness is the issue. I have a Vaio SA (1st gen), came with Windows 7 and was fine in Windows 7. It had loud fans but that was hotfixed. When I upgraded to Windows 10, while the system worked, none of the driver optimizations worked, so suddenly it was using almsot 3GB of ram, and the battery life fell 60%, not to mention that fan hotfix was no longer supported so it was loud... very loud. Also the hot keys for brightness, volume and so on wouldn't work properly, This was handled by the Vaio control center in win7 but not supported in win10. I now use it with Arch linux, everything works, its super fast, dead silent, hot keys work, temps are cool, with Arch+Cinnamon, it only uses 564mb. So while Yes most laptops that support Linux can run windows, the question is how well windows will run on it. When it comes to linux, there are so many options, where as windows will install that heavy bloated OS regardless of machine.

I would personally find a laptop within your budget that you like, then just google linux support for it before you buy it.

Thinkpads are almost supported mainly because coders who use linux already fixed driver bugs with them
