Ryzen 7 2700x

rtx 2070

Hyperx ddr4 3200mhz ram

120gb ssd

2tb hdd 7200 rpm

x370 msi gaming plus motherboard

NZXT h500i case w/ rgb strip

550W

I can only wait for the day when those damn "calculators" are permanently deleted.

Also you should really REALLY get another case if you're going for a 2070 (1080/Ti would be cheaper and better tho) look for something with airflow, like the Meshify C which for me looks kinda hideous but it's one of the few post 2016 cases that doesn't looks like a fridge and has airflow.

There are also a few old Corsair cases that might work too but you'd need to go to the used market for those and tbh getting an used case is always a bad idea (scratches, fractures, missing or malfunctioning parts like buttons or fans, etc)

ASUS X470-PRO • R7 1700 4GHz • Corsair H110i GT P/P • 2x MSI RX 480 8G • Corsair DP 2x8 @3466 • EVGA 750 G2 • Corsair 730T • Crucial MX500 250GB • WD 4TB

Wow Cooler Master..... Bunch of criminals lol, don't give them your money, a 550W unit would be just fine. Get something like an EVGA G2 or G3, SeaSonic Focus Gold, or Corsair RMx series.

Thank you so much but I think I might keep the 2070 because it has ray tracing for when game devs. start implementing that into their games and I have been looking for a better case so thank you

Yeah, that is ridiculous, under max load that system will proabably only draw like 350W. That is the craziest overestimate I have ever seen from a "PSU Calculator" if you can call it that, more like a "Cooler Master Revenue Calculator".

Well, before we get the pitchforks out: this seems to be a "Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard" case. The actual result for this build in CM's calculator is 405W, and they recommend a 455W PSU.

So, for a bunch of thieves, they actually recommend lower wattage than some of you...

You have to check what you put it, you probably made a mistake there. For the list of parts you provided the result is 405W, 416W if you manually change it to 100% TDP, 24/7 on, 455-460W PSU recommended in any case.

EVGA and Seasonic units aren't usually worth it for their price because EVGA's G2 and G3 series are worse than both, same thing with Seasonic Focus/Focus+.

The Cooler Master PSU calculator is just a relabelled OuterVision calculator.

It's pretty inaccurate.

Overestimates the load wattage, then overestimates the recommended wattage, then recommends a PSU with even higher wattage. It turns into a mess.

But you can get a somewhat relevant reading from the OuterVision calculator. Input your parts as usual, but the only output you need is the 12V rating. This is usually a  balanced PSU wattage.

For example, plugging your build into the OuterVision calculator without overclocks, I suggest a high quality 340w PSU, as that's the estimated 12V load.

High quality is important. There are so many more beneficial factors in a power supply than wattage - Electrical performance, input filter, build quality, protections, noise, efficiency, size and aesthetics, cables, and price.

*Cooler Master Employee

Verifiable fact: the PSU calculator (which, as pointed by @Rexper, is not made by CoolerMaster) delivers reasonable results (and OP already clarified that he made a mistake using it).

Unfounded speculation: the guy stating this fact is a CM employee (which also happens to be false)

The worst part is that even if I was a CM affiliate, it would still be true that the output of the PSU calculator is not 1000W and everyone was talking based on a misconception, without checking for themselves.

So, all you have is both a fallacy and a lie in teh same sentence, rather than owing up to making a mistake or jumping too hastily to conclusions. Brilliant.

Now go to your room, the grownups are trying to have a conversation and you're past your bedtime.

The Cooler Master PSU calculator is just a relabelled OuterVision calculator.

It's pretty inaccurate.

I knew I had used an unbranded version, but thought CM had bought them out - no I have the original link again :)

In my experience, however, the results were always pretty accurate. One just need to understand that the maximum load is a worst case scenario, but it doesn't recommend a wattage much higher than that anyways (for example, back in the day the OuterVision calculator recommended a 750W PSU for a system that, ex post, was pulling 450-500W from the wall while a gaming, so it landed right in the sweet spot for efficiency. The specific model recommendations were more random, though).
