Hello guys , I have 2 monitors but due to desk space I can only have a main monitor , I’m not a competitive player .. just like single player games .. should I pick 4k 60hz or still use 1440p 144hz ??

Set up

i7 8700k

16 gb ram

2080 ti

First off, are you sure you don't have enough space? Monitor and are great.

4k should be fine with the 2080ti but that 144hz makes things so much smoother.

Personally is keep the 144Hz or get a monitor arm.

In my experience, I favor a higher refresh rate, in gaming particularly it is very noticeable. I can immediately tell the difference between a standard 60Hz monitor and a 144Hz+ monitor. Also, pixel density between a 4k and 1440p monitor are nearly impossible to tell at the standard seated position, unless you go 1440p ultra wide or simply a large display. But I can pretty much guarantee that if you sat in front of a 27" 1440p monitor and a 4k monitor you would probably not be able to tell which is which.

I would recommend 1440p 144hz everything is so much smoother. As @JM21 mentioned 27 inch is the perfect size for 1440p

That is a big decision.

I have a 4k monitor and a 1440p 144hz monitors as well.

I went 4k. The games I play don't take advantage of the higher refresh rate and 1440p looks blurry to me.

This week I even replaced my 3440 x 1440 monitor with a 3840 X 1600 monitor for the same reason.

If I did not have a 4k and a 1440p monitor close together it would not be a problem. It is going from one to the other that was the issue.

What I would really like is an affordable 32" 100hz 4k monitor.  If one comes out I will buy it.

Good post, but as far as not telling the difference between 1440p and 4k is not correct.  When I bought the first 28" 4K UHD Samsung display in 2014 I was immediately in real estate heaven.  Things were very small and sometimes difficult to read.  4k is for the desktop not for gaming.  The 2080Ti will suffer @ 4k resolution and you can forget about 144fps,,,, more like 60fps.  So if you want 4k only for gaming forget it.  Not reality any time soon except when the 3080Ti comes out and drives it at 144fps.

Grab the 1440p 144hz,.. Even with a 4k desktop your gaming resolution would still be 1440p at you can't really game in 4k right now at high fps.  1440p should be enough for your desktop, and games will be soo nice on 1440p grantid you turned on all AA options in nvpanel and what not.

I personally like 1440p 144hz more than 4k 60hz because my eye can't stand 60hz. for gaming, fps is king and going with higher refresh rate is always better.

The 2080Ti is meant for 4k gaming but at 60fps.  You can turn on AA methods in nv panel and use 1440p @ 144hz will be a much more immersive experience.  60hz sux big time,  Your gonna have low fps plus a 60hz = crummy experience.  Grab the 1440p 144hz.  Once you enable all nv panel feautures there isn't a big difference between 1440p and 4k except thing will be a tad bit smaller.

Since you have both, just keep the one that fits your perference.  Or, find a way to setup both to work on the desk: monitor arms come to mind.
