What'd you expect??
You believe a CEO that is known for lying on stage?
Remember "this baby is Fermi", where he held up a sawed off predecessor with wood screws somehow put together??

In those cases its best to just ignore whatever he says and wait for actual tests from actual people.

So you bought a 2070 in the first place? Just my 2 cents it's still a decent card even if you don't care about DLSS and the few games that use RTX and a better buy for the price than a 2060 or a 2080.

The RTX 2070 really is a scam though, it costs the double of a RTX 2060 but gives 5% more performance, it's identical the drama of the GTX 1070 Ti and GTX 1080 being essentially identical while the 1080 was still considerably more expensive, a big middle finger to 'early adopters' as always.

You don't have to spend the money on a 2070. If you do, that's just one more vote for nVidia to do it again.

Don't know. To me the the RTX 20 series is just a filler. Technically, the next architecture is Volta.

We didn't get it (ignoring the Titan V). I think Nvidia needed more time with Volta as they were not happy with the performance that they were getting, and in the mean time had a team on the side worked on this RTX 20 series line up. That is just my speculation.

At least when I last looked, the 2070 was price comparable to a 1080. Given it is performance comparable at lower power consumption, with new features regardless if you use it or not, it is a fair update.

1080Ti remains my main GPU too, at least until any game I care about uses the new features. But if I was buying today I would not be looking at the 1080Ti, if I can even find one new at this point. 2080 would be more logical.

WOW! These GPUs are scam.

I'm grateful not being an early adopter of this gen. Decided to skip the whole RTX 20xx/Ti with my midrange pascal.. Be strong my friend.. This will be another tough year for PC community. A revealed RTX BS, a KFC CPU, Radeon VII, copyright drama, etc etc...

https://www.techspot.com/review/1781-geforce-rtx-2060-mega-benchmark/page3.html

The 2070 gets about 12% more frames than the 2060 on 1440p. Cost of 2070 = $478 (per pcpartpicker, cheapest option), cost of 2060 = $350.

Assuming 100 frames for the 2060 (and 112 frames for the 2070), we have 0.286 frames / $ for the 2060 and 0.2343 frames / $ for the 2070. We can see that the 2060 is more price efficient than the 2070.

Besides, would you pay $128+ for a measly 12 FPS boost from 100 FPS? Very few people would be able to tell the difference between 112 and 100 unless they were put side to side.

Wow, you guys should see how fanatically some nVidia fanboys defend the RTX and its features in other forums, even to the extent of dissing AMD just to feel good. I was among the first here with an RTX2080 Ti, but decided to sell it because:

1. I simply didn't need all that raw horse powah as I don't game at 4K,

2. I had no faith in the much touted RT and DLSS features, felt like I was a guinea pig who's gonna have to try  out the new features.....I simply had no faith that RT would be adopted by game developers at large. Besides, DLSS sounded like an SLi thing, whereby optimization is required on a per game basis. I seriously doubt that nVidia has the time and resources to optimize ALL or most games for DLSS. Hence their focus on so called AAA titles.

Yes, nVidia has 'promised' to sort out this blurriness issue with DLSS, but I firmly believe they won't, they're saying this simply to sell more RTX cards. They're not the first company to lie about a 'promise', they certainly won't be the last.

Edit - Funny thing about brand loyalty, some can be so....zealous about it, not only defending 'their' card, but feeling obliged to put down the 'enemy' (AMD) while they're at it. Many say the Radeon VII sucked because of all the reported crashes and issues reviewers had with it, and simply ignored the fact that the card is running well with 19.2.1 Radeon VII only driver that was available on launch day, or just after launch day (AMD did drop the ball with the review driver). Yes, it's power hungry and noisy, but with undervolting and adjustments to the custom fan curve do go some way to alleviate those issues.

Yep, I was an early adopter of the 1080, on top of the higher price for founders was the offer HULK certificates for those that wanted to modify the VBIOS but seems they wanted an extra $50 for that and I guess not many fronted up for it as it can no longer be had if it was even available at all. Ask Nvidia for a HULK certificate and they tell you to ask the Manufacturer, ask Galaxy and they say Nvidia doesn't allow them.

I love global illumination RTX in Metro Exodus, that is what want in games for years.. good ambient occlusion. I hope next iteration of real time ray tracing will give less performance impact, much less.

DLSS in other hand is pure snake oil. Pure fucking pile of shit.
