USB C vs USB C type A

Can anyone tell me the difference in a Cable that has USB type A on one end and USB type C on the other vs a USB C on both ends? besides the obvious.....

 

I've been using a Type A to C to charge my iPad Pro with a 60W USB charger and it takes forever. I'm guessing that if i used a C to C cable the out put will be higher.

It depends on the charger and how it communicates with the device. The charger needs to support the same type of quickcharging as the device requires.

The cable should also have a rating for USB 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever. Regardless of whether it has USB C or A on one end.

The type isn't what matters as much as protocol. One may be 2.0 while another is 3.0, so if you get another of the same kind of charger then it's no different.

Not necessarily faster. The charging speed depends on the amount of amps and voltage the power brick puts out to the USB port, the max amount of current the wire can accept, and the max voltage and current your device can accept. In other words, if a USB C to A cable is rated at 5v/3a and a USB C to C cable is rated at 5v/2a, then assuming the 60w charger is capable of distributing 3 amps, the USB C to A cable will be faster.

C-C has a higher maximum potential, but yeah, it all depends on what the cables are rated for.
