I joined via forum from start, and still see a floatplane forum here. The move to the new site, who knows how that's going to work, if the forum here will continue after the forum initialted subs are killed. Also there is a feature to link this forum to floatplane, but the recommendation was to break that link so that there weren't duplicate LTT videos. I can't relink as it says same e-mail is used on both.

 

I guess the forum posted videos allowed discussion on forum, but there are comments available on floatplane site so I guess that kinda serves the same role.

It so you support the LTT team directly. Generally videos appear on Floatplane a week ahead of YouTube. HOWEVER, time sensitive content like new GPU's and such they will release on all platforms at the same time. Also, there have been Floatplane behind the scenes videos. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

NerdSports for example was a Vessel exclusive.

 

If you are wondering where it went, I think Verizon (or another big ISP in the US) bought vessel and basically killed it.

Because it was an important source of income for LTT (mainly because it was an alternative way to get their content out there) they decided to make their own version of Vessel (floatplane) so not only them but also other channels can use basically Vessel (but with different owners) to get their content out there and get another source of income.

What I liked is the video creators would talk to the community exclusive on Vessel and you could respond with a short video response and they would actually watch it and comment on stuff. Besides twitter it was the easiest way to just talk to Linus about whatever 1 on 1

It did. Especially because Linus always said every video will come to youtube and nerdsports did cause some angry people.

 

Thing is, there are already exclusive video's on FP right now (mezzanine build for example) and while they are lower quality it's still exclusive content.

 

That said, nerdsports was some high-quality stuff like proper film crew, proper editing and everything.

Then I guess we are experiencing LTT content in a different way. Which is ultimately OK. It's like the aspect ratio debate. You see early access as worthless because you can't share and talk about the vids and I can't relate to your problem with 18:9 because I don't ever watch LTT in fullscreen mode.
