Strongest/Fastest CPU single core on market?

Hello! 

I have been gone from hardware for a while, what are currently the best gear for gaming? Is the i7 9700k the grand master now or does i7 8086k still have that title? Hows Graphics cards? 2080 ti main ruler?

Well technically that title goes to the 9900K, but both the 9700K and 8700K are right under it. Zen 2 from AMD should give Intel a run for their money (literally and figuratively) though, it's supposed to launch Q1 2019.

 

And yeah, the 2080 Ti is definitely far and away the best consumer oriented GPU (I use the term consumer oriented lightly, it's a lot at $1200). That said, the RTX Titan is launching soon (although at $2500 or so it's an even looser interpretation of "consumer"). AMD's Vega 64 trades blows with the 1080 fairly well, and they likely won't have any more high end competition until Navi, which is rumored to launch some time in 2019 (excluding the part where AMD runs on valve time).

9700k overclocks easier than 8086k because of solder. 2080ti is gaming king until titan rtx comes out

The 9700K and 9900K have more single thread performance than any other CPU that currently exists.

The best single core performing gaming CPU is the i9-9900k, the i7-9700k makes more sense though and is a close second once overclocked.

The top dog when it comes to single-thread performance is the 9900K, with the 9700K and the 8086K/8700K a baby step below it. 

 

Top dog on the AMD side would be the Ryzen 2700X which is probably a tier and a half below, offering comparable single-thread performance to a 6700K. Still great for gaming, though probably not optimal if you play games competitively on 144hz or higher monitors.
