1080ti for $400 seems good to me, I like getting stuff as newer stuff is about to come out.

I have a 1080, I found it adequate for the 2560x1440 your monitor has. So the Ti should be great. I'd strongly consider it, as I highly doubt the 2080 won't offer worse performance per dollar, and its a question of if you need that extra performance for the cost.

Imo everyone is selling their 1080Ti's now because they don't know how low the prices will plummet once the new 2080 comes out.

 

Still though, $400 is a good deal.

1080 Ti for 400$ almost sounds like a scam from how good it is, superior performance to the 2080 for 300ish less? sign me in.

1080ti of course. Even if the 2080 managed to be faster, I'm sure it wont be anywhere near twice as fast (but twice the price).

 

Dont worry about raytracing. If 2080ti only managed to 'limp around' 45fps-60fps at 1080p with raytracing enabled, the 2080 will be a 720p raytracing card.

im honestly just going to end up getting a 1080 in a few months time (when hopefully prices drop) i only play at 1080p@60 but plan to get an ultrawide 2560x1080@60. which will last me for quite a number of years. while raytracing and DLSS is cool, i don't think it's worth the massive price hike at the moment. plus i wont have to upgrade my PSU

i would try to jump to 3440x1440 if you like ultrawide though...1440p is MUCH nicer.

IMO the RTX'es will eat up these cards for dinner, at least from the rumorish benchmarks I'm hearing from so far. The 1080 Ti will have little resale value compared to it in the future. Wait and pick up a 2080.

A friend of mine is gonna be selling all of his 1080ti's. Around $400 as well, gonna pick up a pair for myself. Not gonna waste time with the new gen when I can get more for less right now.

Yes it is on any thing that doesn't bother with Ray Tracing which is pretty much every game aside Battlefield V and Shadow of Tomb Raider.
