Let's see if this works, and how it goes. There's a lot of talk about Ryzen killing Intel, but how is it translating into an installed user base? This forum is by no means representative of the greater world, but let's see what people do.

 

For those with multiple systems, please vote based on your main system. The one you use most, or is the go to system. For example, I have multiple ranging from 1 to 14 cores, but my main system is an Intel quad, so I'll be voting accordingly.

I think quad i7s should be in a separate category as i5s, there is a significant difference between those and I don't want to be in one group with peasantry! (joking of course :P)

I did debate how many groups to split it into, do I put i3 separately from the Pentiums and Celerons...

 

I don't know if I can limit the time of the poll either, but I don't want this to run forever and only provide a snapshot of where we are right now. For example, the rumoured Coffee Lake i5 with 6 cores doesn't fit. Hopefully that is far enough off it'll be worth re-running a fresh poll then. I'm thinking although Ryzen has been out for a while, there's still going to be a large group of older Intel systems around from people not replacing yet.

Sold every thing I had to build a brand new i7 8700k rig as soon as it releases, so even if I don't have it right now I voted for the i7 more than 4 cores alternative.

I debated others but thought they would be rather old or niche as a main system, but still expected someone to find something I haven't covered.

No reason to upgrade from i7 4790k @4.7 until there is a chip with at least 30% better single thread and at least 6c/12t.  8700k might be that chip.  AMD is going to have to release a follow-up Ryzen chip very soon.

I'm more curious as to how the AMD/INTEL split would be for people specifically on the forum compared to this time last year, like LTT did with the amazon affiliate link videos.

 

Generally people here will (should? lol) be more knowledgeable on PC hardware than the average LTT viewer, more than likely with higher end systems? I wonder if that changes the stats.

Currently using an AMD A10-7850K APU. Will be finishing a new build next month with a Ryzen CPU.

Enjoying my 1700. A part of me was going to wait until holiday season for the 8700K + Z370 chipset combo release, but I had the money ready a month ago, so I took the plunge.

 

By holidays I may not have had the cash ready, plus I was tired of waiting...

Love my X5650. Overclocked to 3.6ghz, runs cool at 40~*C. Never had a problem with it (besides when I try to OC it higher. Then the system refuses to boot :P). 

Custom pinewood case, Corsair CX 600W, Rampage 3 Extreme, i7 980x (@4.2ghz) with ML240 Cooler,  MSI GTX 970, 24gb DDR3, 240gb OCZ Tr150 SSD + 2Tb Seagate Baracuda. 

 

Advocate for used/older hardware. Also one of the resident petrol heads.

These old 1366 Xeon CPUs rock. Beat any modern i3, and some i5s. Granted, my Xeon was 1000€ new :D.
